I don't bother with reviews, but yeah, from what I've seen frequenting a RE forum, seems like half the people loathe it and half the people love it. Personally, I buy what I like, regardless of 10s or 3s. I've had fun with it, so far, except that awful L R button mashing.
I've also enjoyed some of the deaths I've come across. I hated that with 5, you pretty much just fell down no matter what hit you, unless it was Wesker. This one seems to be tapping into 4's crazy mix of deaths.
I'm actually kind of disappointed at how tame most of them are. Maybe I am just still reeling from that chainsaw swing in 4. Where it hits Leon's neck, gets stuck on his spine for a split second, and then follows through. This they seem to cut away from the blood, seems really amateurish for what was the first survival horror series.
I can see something like that last bit happening in a Doctor Abraxas novel - where the chopping machine, that the two characters get crammed into, is some creature's orifice.

What?
I thought "Zomboobies" was already a thing?

I stopped really caring after completing RE5. It was then I knew that they were going to stray too far from what made RE4 great. The gameplay and the atmosphere.
@Lithroe Totally agree. I have played through RE4 at least 8 times, but when I played RE5 I found myself...laughing? Playing 1hr sessions? Not salivating for a replay before I even finished? Hmmm. RE4 is my favorite game of all time, and I have wanted to stay as invested as I once was, but why won't they let me?
what exactly is going on at :19? Dry humping? It looks like he has a hard on underneath his pants...
Destructoid gave it the most scathing review, as evidence by their 3 out of 10 & first lines:
"Resident Evil 6 is a Michael Bay movie. There's really no more polite a way to put it."
OUCH.
Also, yeah, except for the fan death, this is definitely not doing the best job of selling the game as either survival OR horror, really. Or action, for that matter.
Also, screw this inferior Voice Nation crap.
Well from the reviews it seems that last death was
(puts on sunglasses)
Leon's biggest fan.
I really feel bad for anyone who says it's a GOW clone, because yes there is some cover based shooting but done so differently. Of course the reviewer who said that also put an insanely low score to up his page hits.
The game actually is pretty solid, it's not scary but then again Resident Evil hasn't been for a long time.
@Arsenal Well the sad part is that it kind of is, but GoW took its cues from Resident Evil 4, which pioneered over the shoulder third person shooters. It is a series that has hit so rock bottom because they are not innovating their own systems.
Yes, the Resident Evil franchise has been action oriented since RE3. I don´t think people remember that Devil May Cry started as Resident Evil 4.
Look at the intro of RE: Code Veronica:
It seems Capcom always wanted an "extreme combat" Resident Evil, they just couldn´t do it at the time.
Hideki Kamiya on RE 4 scenario:
Story of the scenario
Devised scenario began in about a year and a half ago. At the time, the title was so "Bio 4" yet, proceeded in the direction of inclusion in the world of biotechnology the "coolness" of the main theme. Hero statue called "immortal man with the ability beyond human understanding" is what was done at this time. Because it is the world of biotechnology, superhuman ability had been included as a pillar of the story also biotechnology is turned underlay, solve the mystery of his body. Not accompanied by the changes to the original title, but to rewrite the scenario too. Hero of superhuman rage in the world of biotechnology will change the view of the world to hell ... I had quite liked, he personally tried to rewrite freely. In this case the name "Dante" was also decided, rather than such as "superman" can be explained by science, with more missing, what about the guy on the other as strong as the devil, is not it? Without you to enjoy the pure strength of the hero, the coolness, it is difficult moral, straightforward story! Dark Hero draw the blood of Satan Makai VS bad guys. Him, the man draw the blood of the strongest magic swordsman legend was once touted as yet! You do not hear the bad guy say that, with the power to twist one's arm bushings skip!
I think we can all agree that the first game simply wasn't good. It was a fluke that it turned into a major franchise until the designers started taking it seriously (and I contend, taking a hint or two from Silent Hill, at least in terms of atmosphere). This just looks like going back to the original model.
But man, before you play the video, look at that screencap. Is there a budget on this in the first place? She looks like a porn star begging for the moneyshot, only less realistic.
