pssst. Starz: Leonardo was gay. also, did not need leather coat to be kick ass. somehow i think the real one may have been a little more ..impressive? than your badly done fake.
More links from around the web!
Soooooo... basically, they're making a series based on the old "Leonardo da Vinci and His Fightin' Genius Time Commandos!" episode of the Tick?
But...but I thought the historical da Vinci was a pacifist who wasn't into women! I thought he liked men!
It's kind of strange that they are trying to show him as a "ladies' man", when his only real history with women is pretty platonic. Plus he had somewhat of an infatuation for his male assistant and was accused of sodomy.
P.S.
Is anyone else hoping Ezio shows up for some of Da Vinci's technical expertise?
Also wasn't there an Ancient Aliens episode where they say he got all of his inspiration from spending time with aliens because you know...Aliens...
If they wanted a renaissance badass, they should have gone with Michelangelo (or Caravaggio, but he was even more of an asshole). Maybe he will show up as Leonardo´s Mycroft.
@jonap better still - galileo! i want a sexed up epic about galileo, there, i said it!
I want to see the untold story of Nicolaus Copernicus: Warlord of the Sun.
My brain melts a little when they refer to him as da Vinci as if it was his last name. So who do they revise next? "Rodin's Rebellion?" "Michelangelo: Blood and Marble?" "Copernicus: Renaissance Vampire PI?" (Actually, I might watch the last one.)
Im making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life. This is what I do, Fly26.comCHECK IT OUT
@susiewood995 no i will not check it out YOU ARE A LIAR AND A DECEIVER AND I WILL NOT CHECK OUT YOUR BUTT CHANDY NO MATTER HOW TASTY IT MAY BE!!!!!!!!
I was at the NYCC panel for this show. Apparently Da Vinci's bi. And Lara Pulver suggest I audition for the role of Da Vinci's boyfriend. ;)
will they show his relationship with the aliens (if ancient aliens is to be believed) and how he travelled through time to see stuff he later invents in his notebooks. plus there was the whole gay thing which lead to his exile from florence.
@DrAbraxas Leonardo is not gay, Francesco Melzi is... his cousin? There is nothing gay about kissing his cousin in the mouth... passionately... with his tongue.
@AFMG considering the penchant for time travelling and drawing himself as female, and, apparently, his new found badassery, it may be the least interesting thing about him
Spartacus may have been birthed from the id of a 12-year-old boy, but it was still tamer than the real Roman empire.
Da Vinci did design some badass weapons, maybe if I didn't automatically picture him as an old man with a long beard. That's how he's ALWAYS been portayed, so this could be fresh but likely stupid fun like Abe Lincoln: vampire hunter.
Hasn't it been agreed on by historians for YEARS now that Leonardo Da Vinci was gay?
Every episode will have an introduction by Robert Langdon, pointing all the clues left in DaVinci's work to prove the veracity of the episode.
OK, I am assuming this is going to play off of Da Vinci's ties with the Medici? I don't even know. I don't like the portrayal of Leonardo I am seeing but I am interesting in the Medici and the role they played in his life.
I am torn.
@rprinkey I hear every historical figure is gay now apparently. Especially if they are dead.
@vangald @rprinkey no just the ones who were arested in gay bars, and lived with a much younger man while sleeping in the same bed for over 20 years. but hey, maybe he and 'Salai' (nickname for little devil) were just cold, ya know?
@mslinsenmayer @vangald @rprinkey I was under the impression the only evidence there was, was a false claim someone made that he had sodomized a younger dude against his will in order to mess up his reputation and get him detained by the secret police Italy had at the time (I forget what they were called at the time).
Non the less I am skeptical since for several years now every time I turn around there is someone saying another historical figure is gay based on dubious claims, re interpreting words etc.
Though I will say that if we start talking about people who lived in pre Christian European areas I don't question it as much. Since ancient sexuality is a whole different beast with two (or more) backs.
Maybe they'll tie this into The Da Vinci Code and he'll be appointed the leader of the illuminati.
