I can't say it much better than this video does, except to note that WB has given its blessing to the fundraiser, and for hardcore fans with money to spare, the rewards are pretty outstanding. I almost played a waiter in a movie with Kristen Bell once, except my scene actually did get cut, so the guarantee here that it will stay in if you pledge enough is one to appreciate.
Oh yeah - Enrico Colantoni does a Gollum impression.. You'll want to see that.
And in less than a day, it's already made the necessary funds. But if you want to help it have a bigger budget, you can still chip in, and there are still cool rewards.

as another who never saw this show, is this show nerdy at all? my quick googling turns up no reason for topless robot to report on it.
I know there's the old "people can be nerdy for anything" but there has to be a limit. if tr started basing most of it's articles on mainstream sports events because a lot of people are "sports nerds" it would mean the end of tr as we know it.
I am ludicrously excited about this. I loved that show, and Veronica Mars was a badass.

This is the first I've ever heard of Veronica Mars. Is this something I should know about? Judging by the trailer thingy I'd say no, no it's not.

@disarmed @Gallen_Dugall I'd say it's more like the JGL movie Brick - kind of a high school noir. She works for her dad's detective agency in a small town full of rich jerkwads and is trying to solve the murder of her best friend. I started out wanting to hate it but ended up won over by Bell's charisma and the satisfying storyline.
Why don't you support non-Hollywood big boy projects and more small time creators instead. I hate folks supporting these big folks when they already have the support. Can't you find a nice, nerdy sci fi, comicy thing by some virtual unknown who needs help raising funds? Instead of making rich people richer?

@IamSamJackson I link to other such things all the time. Cowboys and Engines, for example, or the War of the Worlds found-footage steampunk movie.
Veronica Mars is a project many people here have wanted to see a movie version of for some time, and there was no studio support previously. If you've ever been a fan of any TV show that was canceled before its time, this could be a game-changer.

@Canadian.Scott Nah, Bell's on House of Lies on Showtime so she isn't hurting for work. This is more a pet project for her, the show's creator, and the rest of the cast, a gift that they've wanted to give the fans ever since the show got cancelled.

@NealKristopher Unreal, it reached it's goal in a matter of hours when most other Kickstarter requests take weeks. I would never have imagined there were that many Veronica Mars fans, if I'm not mistaken it was a UPN show and with the exception of Star Trek Voyager I can't think of any other shows from UPN that were worth watching back then before UPN kicked the bucket.

Good luck and all, but I hated this show, and I'm not really going to gamble on a movie featuring more of the same. It's not always a good thing to see your show turned into a movie, guys. Look at Serenity or Transformers.
@nix.nightbird To be fair, those two examples are totally different things. Transformers is a remake, while Firefly continued the story in movie form, like VM is planning. There aren't many others that fit that category apart from Star Trek and The Muppets, kind of. (Intentionally not mentioning the X-Files....)

OK, yes. The Bayformers temporarily made me forget about the real Transformers movie.
But for every good TV-to-Movie translation, there are a lot of stinkers. Smurfs, Masters of the Universe, Fat Albert, Dukes of Hazzard, Starskey & Hutch, Wild Wild West, Flintstones, The Mod Squad, Lost In Space, Last Airbender, The Honeymooners, Dennis the Menace, Leave it to Beaver, Inspector Gadget, The Saint, etc.

@nix.nightbird @earthmanprime But a majority of the shows, if not all, that you used as example were not involving the original creators, and were not hoisted up by the fans to see the light of day.
Star Trek went from defunct series to movie after what, 13 years? Now while the who V'ger thing was too cold, and 2001: A Space Odyssey for me, the Star Trek Trilogy still holds up, in my opinion 30 years later.

I am supporting this movie just out of the pure love I have for that show. It survived the implosion of UPN, and Veronica, much like Powergirl found her way from Earth 2 to Earth 1, and just was squandered. What a shame.
When I last checked the pledges it was at $1.5 million and climbing with still 30 days to go. I am glad fans actions are speaking larger then words.

I supported this first thing this morning. Love me some Veronica Mars. It looks like it's currently on track to hit their two million dollar goal within 24 hours of it starting. So I guess others love it too.
