How to Artfully Ruin $30,000 of Comics

Artist Andrew Vickers has this to say about his latest sculpture:

I am fascinated with mythical characters so super heroes are just a natural progression with this. I found a box full of old comic books so it seemed obvious to me to make a paper mâché figure using them.

There's just one thing...

His fascination with superheroes didn't lead him to recognize a first-edition copy of Avengers #1, which he tore up to paste onto a chicken-wire frame.

Fortunately, Mr. Vickers is easily pleased by depressing things. He is English, after all.

"I really love the idea of me creating something out of such expensive things that's worth less. I think it's brilliant."
