Thats the theme song from Batman and Robin.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Good lord that looks fucking incredible.

JOY!

Yes yes y'all. I'm stoked. Dr. Manhattan looks amazing.

With KOTOR MMO a go, and now i see. I need new boxers

Ampersand said:

The scene on Mars at the end was just... wow.
As for choice of music, maybe it's a deliberate nod to Batman and Robin. Maybe Zach Snyder is actually aware that Watchmen is all about the history of comics and he's making the history of comic book movies a subtle yet important part of his movie. Wishful thinking...

nim said:

I fear I have to concur,

holy shit, holy shit, holy shit.

Zac said:

Ampersand: There's no way that wasn't completely intentional, and someone else just pointed out to me that they've actually taken it a step further down the meta rabbit hole by choosing that song:

"the Pumpkins song in the trailer is actually an alternative version of their theme fom B&R, one that closes out the film's soundtrack album (remember those?). This cut took the rather generic rock theme song and turned it inside out into something more interesting.

Which fits Watchmen even more perfectly."

Awesome.

Zach said:

Batman & Robin does not deserve to have music. Watchmen should take all music from everything anywhere and play it all at once. Worship it! IT IS LIFE!!!!!!!

Sweet tinkerbell-jesus O_O.........

I am stunned into silence.

Rorschach on the big screen = the most awesome thing ever!!!

jeff Manley said:

Didn't we see this movie a couple of years ago...

the Incredibles?

boysfear said:

how about you not dis the pumpkins?
Its the only part of the trailer I really like.
And no trolling because I'm not coming back to read this

cummins said:

Um, yeah. Me likey.

Zach said:

Jeff Manley: Let the grown-ups talk, honey.

Ranchoth said:

Well, it's got what I was hoping for, at least...Dr. Manhattan laying waste to the Viet Cong in blazing demideific nuclear glory. On screen.

(In my head, though, Rorschach still sounds like somewhere between Kris Kristofferson, and the Macintalk "Boing" voice. Ah, well.)

Eric said:

I am so stunned by how awesome this looks. I'm laughing out loud I'm so excited.

Slamhammer said:

This trailer is better than any other movie I have seen this year, with the exception of Ironman. Seriously, I would have paid money to see this 30 feet tall and in surround sound.

Mind you, this is also 5 hours and 20 minutes from the start of Dark Knight. This trailer might be the 3rd best thing I have seen this year in 7 hours.

Okay, I've worked up to the most mundane nitpick in the history of nitpicks (this week, anyway)...

Rorschach's improvized flamethrower looked less than spectacular, on screen (as in real life, I'm sure). Maybe if he just snapped the top off the can rather than using the nozzle, the flame jet'd come across as more appropriately "Hollywood" looking, y'know?

And Silk Spectre II...okay, she's perfect. Stunningly, smashingly perfect.

plaidstallions said:

It's kind of sad that Alan Moore will likely hate this simply on principle. I am in awe personally.

Ironlightsaber said:

AWESOME TRAILER!!! Hope that the movie is three hours long and is just as amazing.

Xvi said:

After League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, I think Alan Moore has earned the right to retain judgment.

Liz said:

OK, it's going to be fucking gorgeous. Sooooo gorgeous. But if they botch the plot, there will be blood.

Old Fart @ Play said:

WOW! I noticed they did not show much of Ozymandias, and no hint of the New York Event, but Dr Manhattan looked better than I hoped. I agree if they mess the story up we should chase them like rats across the tundra and our revenge should be swift sure and unmerciful.

Akio said:

This trailer looked so amazing at the imax theatre last night just before The Dark Knight. I will be seeing this one at the Imaz as well ;)

luke said:

this is the fourth time i've seen this trailer. It looks incredible.

this was the first comic i ever read and so it was my favourite and i would kill someone if it went down the same road as daredevil. But as it stands i'm insanely excited right now, i want this to be incredible.

Shgubgub said:

Wow, I was hesitant to be swayed by this trsiler, but I had an eyegasm watching it! This movie cannot come soon enough!

Shgubgub said:

I swear I typed an "a", but it put "s"...oh well.

davelog said:

I've been somewhat dubious of the movie all along, because I think it's better suited for a miniseries. I will say, though, that this trailer looks fucking awesome. Just about every scene in it came straight up out of a panel. I hope the entire movie is as faithful.

QUEENOFTHENILE said:

OK, CAN SOMEONE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE SP SONG PLAYED IN THIS TRAILER??

Andy said:

As stated above, the song is a different, slower version of a decent 90's rock song called The End is the Beginning is the End. I think the Pumpkins themselves made a slower version called the Beginning is the End is the Beginning. As to whether this is that version by them or someone else, I don't care. Look up the Batman and Robin soundtrack.

Friginator said:

I just went from:

"Why would they do this?!"
to
"How could they do this?!"
to
"How DID they do this?!"

Summer said:

Well, great. I get this delicious trailer and now I have to wait until 2009 for the rest.

Anticipation is sweet, but 8 months of it could be disastrous.

uhhh said:

terry gilliams version would have been alot better than this shit. darren aronofskys would have been a hell of a lot better as well.

Scotty D said:

Just wondering how they are going to incorporate the other stories into the movie. The pirate story as well as Hollis' book excerpts made the comic for me.

Walter K said:

Hurm.

Must remember to investigate further....

lookalike said:

ok, so to all those people saying the theme song is the pumpkins it is not. it is THE MUSE.
