Donald Faison is one of the stars of Scrubs (which I'm not ashamed to say I very much enjoy) and a genuinely funny dude. He is also am insane hardcore Star Wars nerd, as evidenced by his recent appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, where he says he's seen Empire Strikes Back over 300 times. That's not the important bit. The important bit is when he pitches The Chronicles of Lando Calrissian, starring himself as Lando, running around the galaxy and being awesome. Faison is so into the idea he made a little Lego stop-motion clip of the show to pitch to George Lucas -- that's a shot of it above. He makes all the sound effects, too; watch the whole interview here and be awed. This is all so awesome I can barely stand it.
Seriously. God only knows where Lucas is on the live-action Star Wars TV series, and I am 100% certain that whatever he ends up with won't be half as good as The Chronicles of Lando. Seriously, George -- just send a check $30 million to Faison, and let's make this thing happen. (Via Star Wars blog)

I'm in favor of this idea, as long as Lobot has a major role in the plot.

Wow. That IS a great idea. I would love to watch Faison pimp around the galaxy romancing the ladies and dodging the empire.

Of course this show would be awesome...all the most memorable and interesting characters were introduced in the original trilogy. The focus on the Jedi and their lame ass high school theatre dialogue in the prequels sucked everything I loved out of the franchise. The coolest guys were Han and Lando, because they were legit tough guys who didn't need super powers. Why Lucas won't revist those characters is beyond me...with all the franchise reboots lately I think fans would be open to other actors playing those iconic characters.

Since I don't reside in the US, I sort of hate Hulu. Especially now. :(

The series would end triumphantly with Zach Braff making a guest appearance as Han Solo, winning back the Falcon.

@ Sal: I:m not sure if you're serious but you make an EXCELLENT point.
The best Star Trek came out after Roddenberry had died & the HHGTTG movie couldn't get made while Douglas Adams was still alive... Unfortunately while Lucas is still clinging to his precious and completely misunderstanding why people USED to love it, things as wonderful as this will never see the light of day.

It is awesome, and Donald Faison is awesome, and I loved his clip, but OMG Jimmy Fallon sucks so much it is unbelievable. Like, congratulations to NBC for finding the worst, most comedy-sucking host in the history of ever. Even when he is just talking to a guest and not trying to be particularly funny, he is just awful. Please make Conan come back to TV soon and rid us of this horror.

Which of these things is not like the other?

Fallon is such a no-talent hack. I love how Faison calls out Fallon's idiocy with the whole college comment.

Most people have no idea how important and awesome Lando is. Back in the day, Lando drugged Boba Fett with Fetts' own drugs to save Han! And if Faison is playing Lando...THAT'S FRELLING AMAZING!

it would be the best thing for Lucas if he told the story of the smugglers and bounty hunters in the original in my opinion. Show how Boba trained to replace his dad and how Han and Lando and Chewbacca became such infamous smugglers, and also see the Hutts more and see the Millenium falcon make the Kessel Run in "less than twelve parsecs", even though it was originally a lie.

If anybody else pitched this idea, I would say that it's another terrible, terrible bastardization of the series by Lucas. But Faison looks like he actually gives a damn, which is exactly what Star Wars needs again.
