I actually saw this when I was a kid when it aired on tv to promote tmnt 2. it was a half hour special (i believe) dedicated to showing the lair and some other random stuff.

i remember that thing . proved that Barbera will do any story given her. even one with actors dressed as comic book animals and also love how she almost panics when the actors in the costumes start crying over her question and she is sitting there laughing over the whole nutty thing.

I remember when this aired! I was maybe 14 years old, and stayed up late,sat thru the whole goddamn show to see just what the fuck it was all about. Horrifying!!! and just plain stupid!!! Waste of a a good night sleep.

Aww, and Babs wore that April O' Neil-style "fuck me top." I smell a Friday Fan Fic!

I LIKED the Ninja Turtles... well, the first movie, and 2003 series... that being said... that's just PAINFUL.

HOLY **** I sat through this entire God awful show when I was a kid and it originally aired and I never felt more angry in my entire life. This naturally was before I saw Episode I.

I wouldn't have thought I could be made to feel painfully awkward, uncomfortable, and self-conscious when I'm home by myself, but yet here we are.

I have to say, as silly as this is, it's not as awkward and surreal as the time Oprah had the costumed characters from the Ninja Turtles concert tour/stage show "Comin' Out of Our Shells" as her guests. For an entire episode. And the entire audience was made up of small children and their parents who clearly wanted off this ride (not to say that Oprah herself didn't.) And then Shredder shows up...

Still better than the TMNT crossover in Power Rangers in Space.

The worst part is how Barbara cackles at the end as they cry. She's reveling in their misery. This woman is evil.

jesus H. fucking christ! are you serious? this makes me feel embarassed to be a tmnt fan. more so than the third movie when they went back in time. Why is barbara such a bitch and why is donatello such a drama queen? wow.

i do miss those costumes though. robotic facial features and all.

While watching this, the only thing that I could think of was what Barbara's reaction would be if you showed her this now. She takes herself so seriously these days, she'd probably demand that all copies be found and burned and then kill herself.

I actually had to take two tries to watch this because as a huge TMNT fan I shut it off after the Turtles intorduced themselves because it was twinge-worthy and painful.

BUT if you can get past that part it's frickkin' hilarious! Especially since I know people who constantly debate the behind the scenes politics of Oscar-night.

And it's clear Walters is completely caught off guard at the end by their reactions and that's why she's busting a gut.

Sure, this is nothing but hype for the upcoming movie, but Babs had a sense of humor about the whole thing. Anyone who's seen her specials (especially that crap fest before the Oscars) can see that she stopped taking this seriously a long time ago.

That's not even the worst TMNT thing I've ever seen. Watching Donatello fall and say, "help, I'm a turtle and I can't get up!" was a hundred times worse than that.

That was brilliantly awesome. Only old people (over 30) didn't enjoy it. If you're under 30 and you didn't enjoy it then you don't have a soul.

I remember this from when I was a kid, though the only part I remember specifically was where Donatello was crying at the part about the parents, and I think that was largely due to an interview with Walters in TV Guide (or something) about it where she mentioned the guy behind the setup went overboard with the water-pump, soaking her in Donatello's tears.
