Ha ha! I found it! Nerd girl porn! Porn for nerdy girls! And nerdy gay men! Well, io9 found it, but still -- this is a page from a three-page Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic written by Joss Whedon himself, available for free over at Dark Horse. Now admittedly, it is part of a dream sequence, and the kiss happens off-panel (Shatterstar and Rictor could show these guys a thing or two about PDA). But it has been drawn by the amazing Jo Chen, whose Buffy covers have actually made me a little gay for Xander, something Nicholas Brendon couldn't pull off. Anyways, enjoy. It's a bit overdue.

Dude, seriously, it's not that complicated. Sometimes it's as simple as 1 dead sexy guy+1 sexy deadly guy=double the dead sexy deadliness!
-
Simple two hot guys!!!
-
Considering Joss and Co. are notoriously kind to slash fans and Word of God from Joss himself as all but confirmed Spike and Angel have done the bad thing, it's really, really not fair that we never get to see. *pouts* Damn them.
-
Missy, you think two hot guys together is a turn on, but you disdain high-heels and tight clothes on female protagonists. I'm betting you'd think girl on girl action was an even more blatant appeal to the male jerk-off fantasy. Has wearing the same Doc Martens day in and day out clouded your razor sharp sense of fairness? Can't you recognize your own hypocrisy? Media tends to exaggerate for the character effect - hence nerds that aren't just poorly socialized, but also have tape on their glasses and otherwise don't dress to impress; actors are almost always much better looking than average; men typically play stereotypical roles like hard boiled private detective, jock, frat boy, etc. Women often play stereotypical roles too and one that's readily available and surprisingly prevalent in urban settings is overtly feminine with high style, typically including high heels and form-fitting clothes. I suspect that you disdain that particular stereotype on stage because you disapprove of it on women in real life. If you're 'broad minded' enough to get turned on by two hot guys making out, but disdain overt femininity in women because it appeals to men's fantasies (objectifies women), perhaps you should consider the possibility that you are really a gay man trapped in a woman's body.
-
Really nice. i totally agree with you jo. The guy is so dreams
-
Jo Chen's artwork is great. I totally agree with you re: rugged one-eyed Xander Harris. That leather jacket, the manly stubble, those boy-band good looks and that soulful eye... He's soooo dreamy.
-
@Ophenix Andrew Lloyd Webber is in no way, shape or form gay. HE IS THE PARAGON OF HETEROSEXUAL MASCULINITY, AS ARE HIS MUSICALS!!!
-
Buffy's slumped defeated shoulders MAKE that panel. Awesomesauce.
-
XD You should of put in the third panel, too. There's some stuff going on in the corner of the church. @V-ChipBaby: I think it's 07-Ghost actually. Unless you're talking about something else. Then I'm sorry.
-
Damn. I love Jo Chen's art.
-
Oh... oh dear. This male viewer is a bit horrified. Kudos for all the girls, though. On the other hand, Eliza is looking hot.
-
Thank you Rob, shame the kiss off screen. I agree with what Missy said. Also Snoodle new Torchwood is ace.
-
That's hot.
-
I'm a woman. I find both Spike and Angel arousing, yet them together? Not so much. Perhaps I'm in the minority on this, but guy-on-guy has only ever done it for me twice, and in both cases it was all about the quality of writing and the intensity of the performance. Neither were especially explicit either. Though massive fangirly squeeing for anything and everything Nathan Fillion. Oh yes, baby, yes! You read that phone book!
-
cop out... lol. and as much as i know how progressive-minded joss and the whole buffy universe are, how funny is it that it's two hellspawn sharing a same-sex kiss, in what appears to be a church. haha.
-
I just love Caleb. Anything with Nathan Fillion. Except White Noise 2.
-
Ooh...yes...very nice. Personally, I like male-on-male because it's two hot guys making out.
-
They didn't even show anything... You call that porn? That's not even jane-off in your head material!
-
Hotness. What's with the off-page kiss? LAME. Spike is my absolute favorite character from Buffy/Angel. I find Angel annoying, but he is nice to look at. Xander totally cracks me up in the last panel.
-
I just realised I probably come off sounding like a rabid femi-Nazi in my last post... don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you're anti feminist if you choose to wear high heels etc. Hell, I wear skirts, I own dresses... sure, I wear 'em with my Doc Martens cuz I don't own heels or makeup at all... I guess my point is just that a lot of female characters today seem to fit into this cookie-cutter mould, and it's very boring. As a girl who's a bit of a tomboy, I get on better with guys than girls anyway - maybe that's another reason for the appeal of slash/yaoi. And does it bug anyone else out there that strong feminist views are now seen as a bad thing? I seem to catch myself lately prefacing everything with "I'm not a femi-Nazi but..." Where did being a feminist become a bad thing? And if a feminist shaves her legs in the forest and there's no one around to see it... Ok, I'm at work and I'm meant to be doing stuff... I should stop procrastinating over my morning coffee!
-
Oh Rob, I love you... I shall now swear allegiance to you as my fiendish overlord! @Manobon & other people who don't get the slash thing -- I think the appeal is different things for different women. For myself, I find the "forbidden" aspect of it a huge turn-on. Male characters in yaoi and slashfics also tend to be more emotionally accessible/open with their feelings, which is also appealing on a mental level -- these days, there are so many poorly written female characters out there that it's easier to identify with a male character who's able to be strong and assertive and independent than most female characters today who... tend to be lacking in these characteristics. As a feminist, it's irritating that we keep getting served these supposedly "strong" female role models who still have to wear high heels, make-up and tight outfits and fit into the male jerk-off fantasy... as well as have a boyfriend because otherwise she just can't be emotionally complete. There's also the aesthetic appeal of watching two hot guys together. I don't think I've ever had any feelings of wanting to convert aforementioned gay guys... I will say that a really big thing for me is being able to vicariously enjoy sex the way a man gets to have it through the characters (if that makes sense). Men are able to be more sexual with fewer apologies than women. In a way, writing slashfic helps women to feel empowered because we're taking on the sexual forwardness/aggressiveness that men enjoy without having to deal with the stigma that a woman acting that way would. Not sure if that makes sense, I might not be explaining it too well... it's early in the morning over here in my time zone! Anyway, like I said, I think if you asked six different slash-fans why they like slash, you'd get six different answers, but those are some of my main reasons!
-
@ manobon As a gay man who I can tell you women love us fags. Seriously, once they find out I'm gay its one never-ending flirt-fest with hugging and groping. It's like, there's something liberating and non-threating about gay men. I alwais assumed that it's the powerstruggle that alwais exsists between streight men and women that makes em interested in us. We are not part of it, they can do whatever they want near us and we couldn't care less. Then again, I'm as gay as a Andrew Lloyed Webber musical, I don't know much about women :P
-
Have I told you lately that I love you, Rob? Shameless slash fangirl? Check. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some new Torchwood to get to...
-
i have never understood women who are attracted to two men getting pelvic. i'm not saying it is gross, i just don't understand how it turn WOMEN on.
-
Thanks, Matt. And as for the "Why are girls so interested in guy-on-guy?" thingamabobber, I think it's... well, not really the same reason guys are into yuri. For guys it's... more of what is good and wonderful about the opposite sex! Also, there's sex. As a 14-year-old guy, I have very, very little perspective on this, but I'd guess... nope, still stumped.
-
@The Great A'Tuin James Marsters played Spike. You may remember him from the recent Hollywood blockbuster Dragonball. He's actually a great actor to watch...just not a lot of good stuff to watch him in. And thanks for the perspective Maikei. You're definitely correct on the notion that straight porn seems predominantly centered around a set series of positions with the usual ending. Different faces, same dance. You may have definitely hit on something there. Gotta love a blog that leads to critical analysis of porn.
-
Thanks, Rob[/Sarcasm] Now I can't watch Bones with out the image of David Boreanez making out with... whoever played Spike, I haven't started watching BTVS yet.(I was converted tho the Whedon Alliance when I saw Dr. Horrible. It looked cool, and was. I then watched Firefly and Dollhouse.(still waiting for season 2!) ) Wait... When did this become "How did you get turned on to Whedon?" Oh... Stupid Sexy Rhyming!
-
@ manobon: As a woman who discovered fairly recently that she can be quite turned on by male gay porn, one of the things that struck me is that usually, both parties are attractive and look like they're having some honest fun. Straight porn is often ruled by a power dynamic that involves consistent degradation of the woman, which I don't find remotely hot. Some of it is downright nauseating. That's not to say gay porn doesn't have it's share of degradation, I'm sure it does, but it doesn't seem to be the ruling aesthetic. (Full disclosure: I'm new to it, so this is just my subjective impression and not a connoisseur's opinion) A lot of women are just as much turned on by the emotional hints and implications than the straight visuals of "insert tab A into slot B".
-
And that, manobon, is the actuality of it. Still, some people are still attracted to that. Perhaps it's the "you can't have it, therefore you want it" degree, since now you're no longer considered desired, it makes them want it mroe. And as for the "converting a gay man to the other side to feel good about yourself" situation I mentioned above, I would like to formerly call that The Bella/Edward Effect.
-
thanks MattK and Charro Ninja- I really just haven't met women who have thought ...any of those ways, so that was helpful (though, when I see two lesbians, as hot as that can be, all I see is a big "No Entry" sign).
-
Angel actually looks a bit like Captain Jack here so it's easy to imagine these two in this kind of.. situation never mind
-
They kiss off-screen?? Ripoff!!
-
Isn't this idea based on a statement said by Angel that he and Spike once had a one-night stand. To manobon: they find yaoi attractive in the same way we found hot two nude chicks fucking.
-
@manobon I would hypothesize (not theorize, since I've not conducted any testing or surveying to prove this) that since one, if not both, of 'teh male gay' is on the...for lacking of a better phrase, 'receiving end' of the relationship, then said male would be more emotionally bound to the woman's sexual position; they closer identify with what a woman experiences in sex than a heterosexual male does. Also explains why yaoi fiction often gives male characters feminine characterstics, often the bishounen look. In slash fiction, which takes heterosexual males and puts them in homosexual situations, it can allow women the opportunity to identify with a strong male character, especially if it's in a story where the main character is male and the female characters are not as well developed as the males, thus giving the women limited options for feeling a sense of identity to the formerly-masculine character. And of course, there's also the fantasy that the woman imagines herself...'converting' a gay male over to the other side, thus allowing her to feel hypersexual about herself, as if her features alone can make a gay male reject his former lifestyle. It's a similar fantasy to the straight males who enjoy watching/reading about lesbians.
-
Oh, thank God. After watching fan-subs of Ghost-07 for weeks and weeks I thought I was the only one who enjoyed this stupid crap.
-
I don't understand the supposed appeal of 'teh male gay'/yaoi stuff to women- that is to say, I don't know of any women that find it appealing/sexually-stimulating. If anything, they find it more humorous than hetero-porn (of the ladies I know, blah blah blah). Can someone explain why some women find it appealing?
-
The next panel is the best. She's getting married to Skinless Warren. Priceless.
-
Just sit back and enjoy the show, Buffy!
-
AWESOME! Oh man, this sequence is the best. And hilarious.
-
Bout fuckin' time!
-
Ohh, YUM! Almost makes up for FFF. *still shuddering about that*
-
that was funny, reminded me of torchwood though only the clean boy line
-
They kind of flinch in the last panel and cut to the reaction shot. Teases.
-
Awesome. About as hilarious as Buffy's dream of herself dressed up as a nurse with nude Angel and Spike on either side of her. And anyone who has a problem with Angel/Spike slash, even in dream sequences, should chill, because if nothing else, this gave us another reason for a comic interpretation of Nathan Fillion, therefore making it great!
-
"What in the slashy heck?" is just the best line ever.
