I really don't care for memes, in general. I mean, everybody enjoys running jokes and references, but a lot of the time, it's just copy-pasting a prefabbed sentence into any given situation, as a placeholder for an actual opinion or, God forbid, a sense or humour. It gets to the point where people start to think the ironically poor grammar is correct, and I find that sad, and worrying.

That said, "WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS?" is bloody hilarious. Its origins, its ignorance, its vehemence; just priceless. I'm doing my best to introduce it to people. I just pray I don't sign up to 4ch now...

I'm not sure that your point justifies it-- One shouldn't beat up retards/children/physically handicapped just because they started the fight, right? However, I'm a bit conflicted because it is funny as hell-- Stupid people / people of authority losing their shit is a staple of comedy (think Homer Simpson, Colonel Klink, and pretty anyone Bugs Bunny was up against). Here's the thing about this meme: It's not laughing at the "retard" kid, like the Star Wars Kid from oh-so-long-ago; we're laughing at the ridiculousness of "WHOSE RESPONSIBLE THIS". The syntax, the grammar (or lack thereof), the misspelling and missing words. No one could have come up with that on cool-headed and on purpose. That took real, wholly unnecessary rage, and that's what makes it compelling, funny, and strangely beautiful.

Now, if people are laughing because the kid, clearly, has issues, that's their own deal. That's not the point of the meme. Another white knight rode in on a previous thread that I missed, saying that making fun of furries is the same as gay bashing. That's true. Making fun of consenting adults who like to, or can only, get off by dressing up in animal costumes-- while still hilarious-- is like gay bashing. But this kid writes in a vain of furridom that eroticizes children and advocates bestiality and incest. All of those things are socially unacceptable. Whether they should be or not, is a different debate. Society has agreed that they're wrong (and legality isn't the only qualifier for that) and that people who engage in such activities are deviant. So, no, there's nothing wrong with making fun of those kinds of people. Whether he's being honest or whether he's just acting weird for weird's sake on the web doesn't matter.

Now, is it right to make fun of a child, regardless of his/her issues, a good and moral thing? I have no idea. But we can't help what we laugh at, that just happens naturally.

You know, I've gone on way too long. I'll conclude with a basic philosophy that all good stand-up comics have: No person or subject is taboo.

I think most people are not really making fun of the kid personally. To me most of the comments have been about the quality of his story, "Whose Responsible This", and his general overreaction about the story being posted as part of FFF. I haven't really seen a lot of "this kid is a furry, it's sick, he's really a bad person". To me that's an important distinction, as the things that people have been commenting on are fair game. He put them out on the internet for everyone to see, and be lampooned. Furthermore, and I think I've said this multiple times, if he had not overreacted and just let it be then he would be forgotten, as would his story. By overreacting he made it much worse.
