Remember that Star Wars horror novel announced waaaaay back in February, Death Troopers? Well, it's actually due out next week on the 13th. I still have no idea what it's about -- okay, other than an Imperial ship coming across a derelict Star Destroyer carrying a terrifying disease which might be considered zombie-like in nature -- but that didn't stop me from enjoying Del Rey's little fan trailer contest for the book. I personally prefer the simple, understated trailer from "The Nonchalant Nod" up above, but you can see the other four finalists here... IF YOU DARE! BWAHAHAHAHA! Oh, never mind.

Gotta agree with your choice. It's the only one that didn't stink.

Even though the concept is a ripoff I'm still excited. As long as there is no comic relief I'll be happy.

Is it just me, or is that storm trooper a little thick? Does this deadly space virus cause bloating?

I agree with your choice too, but the one made by kids was good for being made by kids.

Here is the ending. all the storm troopers die and mutate and then it pans out to show another ship coming to dock to fix the broken ship... the door opens and the deadspace guy steps out....! the end. its a prequel to deadspace.. heh anyway.. I still think the guy from the original post who thought it would be much better if it was about the sith lord going all hellraiser on a group of paradawns came up with a better idea for a horror starwars thing.

OK. Definitely the best of the fanmade trailers. Hands down.
But I am soooooooo tired of Zombies, A thru Z viruses, nad Vampires. I never thought I'd see the day that it somehow wove itself into the fabric of Star Wars.
Not saying that it isn't possible somehow in the Star Wars world to exist. Just really tired of this played out subject. Zombies, vampires and viruses that turn you into one the undead used to be cool - 10 years ago! Now it's just stupid.
Now if they took the route of some rogue clone trooper turning into some maniac killer like Jason Voorhees or Micheal Myers and starts grotesquely killing off the others, then I could buy that a bit more for a story. But even that would be old and played out.

That trailer was actually a little creepy as well as extremely well done.

One tiny problem: The Emperor didn't allow women in his military. There were no female bridge crew, ever. The only woman to make it into Palpatine's military was Daala, and only because she was a cold, ruthless person who played her cards right and used her ties to Tarkin to get what she wanted.
So why was there a woman on the comm?

I wonder if these will be rakghouls or something else.
At any rate, I gotta agree with Neal Snow. The others were just weak in comparison.

Must be nice to be a Star Wars marketing guy.
"Hm, need a marketing trailer... let's just get the fans to do it! Someone call the golf course and see if there's still a tee-off time this afternoon...."

Correction; the Emperor DID allow women in the military, they just never got very high, glass ceiling and all. Admiral Daala was the only woman admiral and her ascension was due to Tarkin, but she was a part of the military before that.

@Anonymous - I'm tired of Nad Vampires, too.
They're a pain in the bollocks.

There's not really a choice here. The rest of the entries are terribly amateurish. Though I did get a good laugh from the kids in Star Wars Underoos.
