I... I don't even know where to begin. I mean, it's not like I expected Alan Moore to be capable of singing, but then, I never thought a video would surface of Alan Moore and his utter lack of vocal talent crooning for six straight painful minutes. I guess I'd be a little pissed if he could sing; the man has more writing talent than most people on the planet, so it would be unfair if he sounded like Elvis as well, but... man, this is rough. Oh, the delightful cherry on this pie of insanity is that the band Moore is singing with is called Downtown Joe and the Retro Spankees. (Via Newsarama)

Was he not in a band with David J of Bauhaus very briefly in the 80's called the Sinister Ducks?

Oh! A band called Downtown Joe and the Retro Spankees is to blame! Consider this your 15 minutes, assholes.

You're forgetting that Moore also wrote and sung the classic "March of the Sinister Ducks"...

I was expecting him to actually be horrible in a funny way, not just...boring and bland.

Asat replied to Monkey boy:
Yeah, since he looks rather like Roy Wood I was bracing for a soprano or falsetto, but I totally expected he'd be bombastic no matter what kind of voice he had. This sounds almost shy and emo, like a first-timer karaoke singer. If he loosens up and learns to own the mike...well, he'll still be pretty mediocre. But he'll have more fun.

Alan Moore is an awesome writer but he's creepy looking (I've seen photos of him before)He looks like an evil warlock, or someone plotting to overthrow the government...certainly not a guy who writes comic books about naked blue dudes and guys who dress up as owls. (Damn fine comic books-ok, graphic novels- though they may be, blue dudes, owls and all. )Certainly not somebody who gets to be the dynamic frontman who comes up for spontaneous jamz. Stick to what you're good at, Alan!!!

I've heard worse singing, honestly. I wouldn't have expected him to sing as well as he did, honestly. Funny, though.

What would be awesome instead is Moore singing "Monster Mash".

I think Michael Moorcock might be the superior science-fiction-writer-in-a-band here...

..You know, considering all the whining Moore has done of late, it would be poetic justice if Ian Anderson sued Moore for stealing his look-n-feel. All it would have taken to seal the deal is for Moore to have assumed Ian's patented "Flute Stance".
