Tekken sucks.
More links from around the web!
-
SF awesome...SF 2 cool any street fighter afterwards? stupid...same game with a different name cause they knew their game was going down the drain. shitty game with the number one shittiest movies of all time. Tekken is superior and hell even the damn movie looks superior to that Van Dam crap.
-
I really don't think it's as hard as you make it sound. I can't comprehend half the stuff I have read in FAQ's and such on TekkenZaibatsu, (stuff about timing your button presses to specific frames of animation) but I can quite happily play any tekken game on Very Hard and muddle through, whereas I have a controller bitingly frustrating time playing through SF4 on anything above the easiest setting, and I've spent a LOT of time street fighting (Alpha 3 is Possibly my favourite fighter of all time). I could complain about the game and say that spamming circular motions on a pad is giving me calouses or I could just accept that SF4 is not really for me. Maybe we should just stick to games we're good at and not bash ones we suck at? Also, 'grats on the sexings.
-
there IS a translation patch regarding dialogue and menu out there. the story is pretty fun too. it sometimes lock up, but nothing that a "Skip" dialogue function can't fix. i'd happily provide the link for ya if ya want!
-
okay then, 1) they HAD to put in the Easy Mode since normal gameplay is too frustrating for newbies. fuck, KOF was hard, but that doesn't mean i really NEED to learn which light attacks combos well to Nukiuchi and end into a Ya Otome just to survive a fight when i played as Iori Yagami. the engine was "nice" enough to let me get at least to round five with noob luck alone. try that shit with tekken, and you end up at the receiving end of a ten-hit combo of a softcore pornstar lady. 2) despite of your easy to be bored nature, SF required very little of your time because it stills remembers that it is a GAME, and not a test of your mettle as a professional gamer. again, i don't WANT to be a pro! i just want to enjoy my GAME, dammit! 3) hey, you would deliberately fail your own SAT test as well if you saw the kind of poontang i had to face the night before. between one wild night of angry sex and some silly test, i'd take the angry sex, thank you! >:3
-
you're forgetting that i'm quite adamant in rejecting all things tekken. having said that, what bugs me is not that he does in fact have that move available. what bugs me is why he needs to have those move available after an intricate button sequence instead of, you know, a normal frickin punch button! while i understand the function of these intricate button moves are just about the same with the other crew, it's not like his sword is stowed away in hammerspace. it's RIGHT THERE! on his GOD DAMN HAND!! if they had his sword stowed away somewhere where he can magically ass-pull it for some stabtastic action, that would make more sense, and my argument hence moot. as it stands, i'm STILL not removing yoshi from the retarded list.
-
I realize I'm replying to this way late and all, so no one is probably ever going to read it, <i>but</i> . . . <p> There are indeed a few moves where Yoshimitsu pulls his sword and cuts people's faces off. One of those moves involves him rushing forward, slicing his opponent as he passes, and stopping on the other side as they fall to the ground. <i>Very</i> powerful move and difficult to defend against. <p> And second, Yoshimitsu is a Robin Hood type character. While he'll pull a few fast ones with his sword every once in a while, he has a personal code of conduct that keeps him from using it continuously throughout the fight, as it isn't strictly fair to the other fighters who <i>aren't</i> carrying weapons.
-
I can't quite do either. I've got the (standard) translation of the entire script, and that works out pretty well, I think, though I do know enough Japanese to navigate menus without a whole lot of trouble.
-
There's a mode where you are spoon fed moves and their button combos in order to help you remember them. It's really not very hard. You start off button mashing and spamming moves and that gets boring fast so you pause, find another move, try it out, lather rinse repeat. The number of moves just means it doesn't get boring after half an hour like SF4. Don't be mad at tekken because you couldn't pass a SAT test.
-
...sorry rob, i can't defend you on this. this tekken goon has a point. MVC is more mash-happy than a regular SF, really.
-
SF > Tekken reason? getting pwned by Devil Jin since you're too goddamn STUPID and tried to punch his face in when you, oh i dunno, could've slashed him with your fucking sword you're always carrying around!
-
Tekken > SF Reason? throwing fireballs is fucking stupid.
-
or, you know...Guilty Gear VS BlazBlue titled "Guilty Blue" or "BlazGear". ... ... i think i just wet myself. XD
-
dude....just...please don't. don't compare that with this pukebag. please.
-
that's because that's the ONLY thing you'll ever see on a tekken match. PERIOD!
-
YES YES and YES!! the very IDEA of Rugal duking it out with Raphael for the title of Smuggest Bastard Alive makes me wet all over! XD
-
all the more proof that the latter is geared more towards "fun" than "study the fuck out of our characters' moves or you'll be pwned like a noob"
-
and don't forget the translation patch. or, well, you know, if you're fluent in japanese, i envy you with the intensity of a thousand suns. XD
-
or a sucky version of Namco X (cross) Capcom
-
there is, but that involves a chapter of my life involving a stray cannabis, several bottles of accidental Jack Daniels, three hobos and a dancing midget, so i'm not gonna get into it here...
-
once more, with feeling: if you're looking for porn, GET porn!! if you're looking for a fighting game, FUCK tekken!
-
congratulations! you have just wasted all your free time studying his move when you're could've used it to employ logic and wonder why the HELL can't he slashed the face off those people he fought with THAT SWORD HE'S CARRYING AROUND!
-
You mention MvC3, and then you call TEKKEN a button-masher? Gimme a break!
-
Just because YOU cannot play a character that doesn't make him bad, you know. I have defeated players solely by jumping with my dick.
-
Good point. I'd rather see a Street Fighter Vs Guilty Gear or Street Fighter Vs Blaz Blue Game. I don't hate Tekken but of all 3D Fighters it's by far my least favorite (no matter what part i played so far). Or you know what Capcom just cut the crap and give us "SNK Vs Capcom 3" (2D with HD Sprites). Now that would be slice of fried Gold.
-
You two described pretty much every Tekken Match i've ever seen.
-
You're fogetting high-level tournament play, which goes like this: -You jab, jab; opponent sidesteps -Opponent trys to uppercut you; you block -You uppercut randomly, hoping to juggle the Opponent; Opponent uppercuts you. -You get juggled for 80% of your life. -You uppercut Opponent and juggle them for 100% of their life.
-
Thank you. - - I've said it numerous times before--Mortal Kombat has nothing going for it if you remove the blood and Fatalaties. That's all people play it for--to see decapitations and disembowelment. Hell, throw in some DOA jiggle physics and it'd be the perfect game for pre-adolescent 17-year-old males. - - One thing I hate about 3D fighters like Tekken is the fights usually go like this: - You jab-jab-jab; opponent blocks. - Opponent jab-jab-jab; you block. - Repeat until someone misses a block; proceed to combo 3/4 of their life bar away. - Pepper in absurdly damaging throws to make the fight "interesting."
-
Feh, as much as I love Dead or Alive 4 (no, really, I actually really enjoy that game, even with my loyalty to Virtua Fighter), most of the Tekken girls look good deliciously thick.
-
Hey, Capcom, remember that Street Fighter vs Guilty Gear you and Sammy alluded to at the AOU a few years back? WE'RE STILL WAITING...
-
People keep talking about how much Tekken sucks, but I haven't seen anyone mention how much MK sucks. MK is easily the weakest fighting game that ever spawned a sequel(s). MK had to make up for a shitty fight engine with a gimmick(fatalities) and then proceeded to make a complete joke of the words "fight game mechanics" by adding babalities, animalities, and various other shitty gimmicks that failed to cover up the fact that the game indeed sucked donkey balls. If people are more interested in what happens at the END of the match, rather than DURING the match you have failed miserably. I wish MK would just go away...forever.
-
i dunno ive never button mashed tekken.. and the only way i can get by in street fighter is by button mashing...
-
I dont want to be that guy.. but its called Street Fighter X(cross) Tekken. Not Street Fighter vs. Tekken. Specifically, this game is not part of the capcom vs. series, but a whole new series all together.
-
Truthfully, I'm excited for this game, but Tekken vs Virtua Fighter would be a much more enjoyable experience. Yes, it has it's quirks, but I just can't see why Tekken gets the hate that it does. I think some people found out they weren't as good as they thought they were at it and now they're saying it sucks.
-
Never got into the Tekken game myself. I did, though, get into Sould Calibur, which means I am diapointed the whole of Namco and Capcom aren't involved. IF R. Mika is in, though, I have to buy it on principle.
-
This was actually gonna happen. Ed Boon says miscomunication botched it, so they went with DC instead. http://www.videogamer.com/xbox360/street_fighter_4/news/ed_boon_tried_to_make_mortal_kombat_vs_street_fighter.html
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6U7jZ-qMfI&feature=related ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF THIS GAME
-
My (not-so-)inner video game crossover 'ficcer is quite pleased at this development. I play both series, though I prefer Street Fighter to Tekken by a wide margin despite all of the cheesecake for which Tekken has become known. (Yes, I play the DOA games, too – all of them.) This should be worth my money. Still going to import Namco X Capcom, though.
-
That is oddly descriptive, Mr. Rick. Is there a story here we ought to know about?
-
damn reply button won't work on me. oh and btw, if a game REQUIRES me to sit down and memorize pages upon pages of buttons to press just to get my freaky-assed swordsman to SWING. HIS. GODDAMN. SWORD, i'd rather invest my time in something that actually offered me some fun, thank you very much.
-
nope. been spending waaay too much time to study hwoarang's movelist to realize my life is empty and hollow as a tekken zombie up to that point...
-
yeah, and the requirement to study your movelists like you would a FUCKING SAT TEST!! fuck that, bro! i don't play my games to get my PHD in virtual ass-kicking. i play my games to have FUN!!
-
again, scoot, did i tell you you're my HERO?! XD anybody who's earned an (almost) ass-kicking for PLAYING a video game ass-kicker deserved a spot on my personal, nerd hall-of-fame! XD
-
I hate it when people call tekken a botton masher. Ifyou actually try to button mash in any game besides tekken tag tounament you'll get you ass handed to you.[/rant]
-
sorry, but you sucking at a game because you can't be bothered to learn it's moves does not make it a button masher.
-
I love Tekken and I love Street Fighter. This is just awesome. Now, some of Tekken's characters are pretty stupid. Look at Julia. But there are a couple of Street Fighter characters that are pretty lame, too. Look at all the new characters in Street Fighter IV. But, the only thing I care about right now is the chance to team up Bison and Devil (I hope he's in the game) and whip some ass.
-
Oh, I'm under no illusions about how much of a pipe dream this is. If nothing else, what style would the game be in? Mortal Kombat is more visually realistic (especially for using actual actors for MK1-MK Trilogy) than Street Fighter's very stylized animated look for their characters (though the exact style has changed over time, just like MK's). Going with one style over the other would make one roster look very strange to their respective fans (a very obviously animated Scorpion or a fully 3D-rendered E. Honda, for example).
-
This is as obvious as a Marvel vs. DC game... Everyone wants it but there's a shitload of red tape that is stopping us from getting it.
-
Awesome. I prefer SF's gameplay A LOT more than Tekken, but Tekken has a rather awesome cast of characters. Boxing kangaroos = yayness
-
That would be awesome.
-
I would have much rather had a new Darkstalkers game like Yoshinori Ono has been teasing. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world, and we don't always get what we want. :(
-
As much as I think that VF is an awesome game, I think its characters are just too bland for a crossover. SF and Tekken have a type of over-the-top motif that kind of complement each other.
-
I'm not much of an SF or Tekken fan, but I really like the art style of that trailer. If the game itself has a style like that it might be worth trying, at least. Still, why Tekken and Street Fighter? Meh. I always liked Soul Calibur more than Tekken, and SF has always had the least-interesting Capcom characters. Better yet, drop Capcom completely. SNK vs. Namco - make it happen.
-
Sounds like some of you've been on the receiving end of a few too many 10-hit combos.
-
Man, ya'll some dodo birds. Tekken is a much better fighting engine than SF. Anybody that thinks Tekken is just a button masher is looney tunes. For the average player, SF's probably way more fun than Tekken, & the learning curve is substantially easier, but man alive, Tekken has a far more diverse, technical, & evolutionary fighting engine.
-
Agreed, if you wan't your fighting game to double as a masturbatory aid, then it's DOA all the way. That said, I've got some affection for Tekken if only because of a glitch I figured out for Hwaorang(the Korean with all the kicks)that made me essentially unbeatable and nearly earned me a real-world asskicking. Good times.
-
This actually makes me a little more interested than something like Marvel V. Capcom which has been done to death and those stupid homebrew videos on Youtube plus the emulators really don't bring anything fresh to the game. Marvel sucks donkey too. Plain and simple. Tekken has an awful live action movie coming soon. Fighting games and awful movies are regular events like the sky being blue and water being wet.
-
Seconded.
-
remember the "Street Fighter EX" series? that's how i imagine this Versus series would be like, except much, MUCH worse!
-
the only way i can stand tekken is when they only feature two of their main cast, heaps of capcom, and have heihachi duke it out with klonoa. now THAT i can stand! XD
-
now THAT is something i can stand for: having akira ring out jin would be a fucking wet dream of mine! X3
-
more reason for me to hate tekken: nerfing well-established character movesets. ryu without his hadoken (and shinkuu hadoken) would be like paying for sex and have that whore with big boobies read you an erotic novel while you jerk off in front of her: it doesn't feel right.
-
play Dead or Alive for all your jiggly needs then, buddy. fuck, play ANYTHING other than tekken!
-
putting in yoshimitsu on the "retarded" list. oooh, what a nice big sword you have, mister creepy-ass masked samurai man! what's that? you can't use it unless i put in a specific button move? what's that? you can balance it on your dick and use it to jump around? what's that? your moves involves spinning around and then fainting, which leaves your ass open for a combo raping? well, FUCK YOU, yoshimitsu!! go back to soul calibur where you belong, motherfucker! at least your sword was much more useful there than subbing for a dick-joke analog!
-
not only are you clearly wrong but neither of you know what the word Emo means. If anyone's Emo it's the perpetualy broody kazama punk and a bear isn't creative design it's just putting in weird things for the sake of shock value
-
Yeah, the money would be on Virtua Fighter vs. Tekken, and SF vs. MK.
-
Looks like I won't have to go to the trouble of finding Namco x Capcom for the PS2 now.
-
First of all, awesome, love SF (less crazy about Tekken but whatever). Secondly, I pray to god Seth doesn't show his face this time.
-
I imagine that in the Capcom version the Tekken characters will be given a few projectile attacks, like Devil Jins insanely annoying laser beam, and that in the Namco version the SF characters will probably lose most of their projectile attacks.
-
VF vs. Tekken would be so much better.
-
Not a Tekken fan, I take it?
-
Seconded. I enjoy both games, but Tekken is superior.
-
Tekken has developed onto a much more well rounded strategic fighting game, while streetfighter has stayed pretty much the same, (unless you count the sucky ones). To say Tekken is a button masher and streetfighter is not, well thats like saying Jar Jar is like Chewbacca. I enjoy them both, although newer streetfighters are thumb torture, much more "button mashy" than Tekken ever was. Also Tekken produced some of the best looking cut scenes, and best graphics, for games of the same era.
-
tekken does suck alot
-
I've got to say, I'm a fan of Tekken. I love SF more, but Tekken has its charms. I'm really not seeing how they're going to balance this, though, as Tekken is a slower game based solely around hand to hand combat, whilst SF is faster with wild projectiles flying around. Still, I expect Capcom know what they're doing and shall deliver the goods.
-
Hey Tekken has bears... and boxing kangaroos... and boxing dinosaurs... wait what was I talking about... Oh yeah I like Tekken because... Okay to be totally honest the onyl reason I like Tekken is because it has more female characters with bare midrifs that other fighting games and I'm a sucker for that.
-
Tekken has a much more vivid cast than SF. SF characters are so boring and emo.
-
Actually, if they wanted to print money, I think they'd work on a Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat game. Holy hell, that'd be awesome.
-
They don't have to balance it that way- they're making 2 games. One runs on SFIV's engine, and the other runs on Tekken 6's engine.
