N to the ice! I found Misfits to be great, but are they doing a second season? Feels like I've been waiting for ages, but after all, it is the UK. Also, that blonde girl from the second episode? Amirite... yes.

Misfits is awesome. Anyone who says differently should be junk punched with the power of a million exploding suns. Never read the Dirk Gently books, but I read all the Guide books. Always meant to correct that, but I read so little these days.

Given how the Hitchhiker's Guide movie turned out and the woe that is And Another Thing, it's probably more likely that the Adams estate is just waiting for another check. Just sayin.

I loved Misfits and it seems like everyone does.Howard Overman also wrote the show that took over when Sherlock finished called Vexed and that is also great. Dirk Gently, on the other hand, is crap.

wow.... I should be some kinda psychic or something... Only 3 days ago I was talking to my friend about the abysmal film adaptation of hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy, and during my discussion I said 'The BBC should commission a TV series version of Dirk Gently. This is AMAZING news. Hmmmm, what shall I predict to come next?

they do have a great sense of humor in "Misfits", Rob. that's always a plus in my book.

Yes, Dirk Gently was the first Douglas Adams I read, too. My Dad gained a lot of nerd cred (in my eyes) when I found Douglas Adam's autograph being used as a bookmark in his copy of the book. The thing with the couch is the most memorable bit, to me, but I don't know if they'll include it.

Damn that lousy Douglas Adams... you ever notice how he gave the game away in his first novel Dirk when he mentions that he knew a guy with a time machine.... its so bloody obvious he used that to rip off American Gods!!! Personally I much prefer the Dirk stuff to Hitch hikers and am over the moon that its gonna get some much deserved love. Oh and the only people who I know who hate Misfits are people who decided that before they saw the show, and then used the 1st (setup) episode to justify their ignorance and loathing of the show.... not long now till season 2 :-)

The BBC did a radio adaptation of Dirk Gently a couple of years back. I really, really hope they don't keep the same cast for a TV show. It would have been much better if they'd not cast Harry Enfield as Dirk. I'd much prefer someone who can - say - act.

*clears throat* OMYGODOMYGODOMYGODOMYGODOMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!! Bless you Rob, for this is joyous news indeed! Dirk Gently was the first Adams novel I ever read and remans my favorite of his works. But what I must know is this: Does this have a shot of playing in the States? Or will we uncultured colonials have to wait for the DVD?

Hopefully this will do a better job adapting cult books to screen than Sky, and the Beeb, have done previously. I kind of hope it will be in the same, cheesy (ew) vain as the original Adams' H2G2 series from the 80's

Am I high? I thought when I posted that Misfits thing that several of you hated it. I thought it looked all right, but I was admittedly comparing it to Heroes. So can we take the Misfits writer as good news?

Agreed! Other than the somewhat cheesy part where they all are granted powers from a lightning storm, I thought the show was solid. I look at it as what Heroes would have been had they not clouded everything up after season 1 by adding a million characters and making everyone's storyline suck.

How can anyone not?! I am baffled by those who dislikes Misfits. It's funny, nerdy, cool and pretty damn emotional at times. Nerdy! AND cool! Come on, people!

People didn't like Misfits!?! I LOVED the show, and I introduced it to half a dozen or so of my friends, all of whom loved it and tracked down the full season to watch, as well. I am puzzled by your assertion that people disliked it...
