• This is just basically a paraphrase of what I wrote at Kotaku, but: Yah, right. Look at the name: Pokemon. Pocket MONSTERS. That anime? Team Plasma propaganda. Pokemon aren't human. Most are nothing more than animals. Your pikachu doesn't have a personality. It's just a big rat - a rat with magic lightning powers. You thought that hornet at the picnic was troublesome? Imagine it three feet tall, with stingers for front legs - stingers that can shoot you from a distance. And all you did was walk through some tall grass. That's right - these things are basically demons, but without intelligence for the most part. It's a wonder humanity survived long enough to build cities. The only way to survive is to use their power against them. Does Raidou get crap for trapping demons in tubes? Nope. We celebrate him defending the world from evil. Fortunately the Pokemon universe is more hopeful than your typical Shin Megami Tensei story - every little kid is a potential Raidou.
