This isn’t Fables at all! This is Grimm, the NBC show which is a total rip-off of Fables except that it sucks and will fail and inevitably prevent a real Fables TV show from getting made. Goddammit. Don’t believe me? Well, let’s do some math here. First, let’s take the basic premise of Fables…
Grimm is a new drama series inspired by the classic Grimm’s
Fairy Tales. Remember the fairy tales your parents used to tell you
before bedtime? Those weren’t stories — they were warnings.
Ooh! Fairy tales are real! Now let’s add a big dose of derivative, stupid crap:
Nick Burkhardt (David Guintoli Turn The Beat Around) thought
he prepared himself for the realities of working as a homicide
detective until he started seeing things he couldn’t quite explain. When
his ailing Aunt Marie (guest star Kate Burton, Grey’s Anatomy)
arrives, Nick’s life turns upside down when she reveals they are
descendants of an elite group of hunters, also known as “Grimms,” who
fight to keep the balance of humanity safe from the supernatural
creatures of the world.
Ugh. If you watch the trailer, you’ll even see that Nick, “The Grimm,” pals around with a Big Bad Wolf for a bit in the pilot, although the show makes the amazing creative leap to have him be a wacky sidekick instead of the protagonist like in Fables.
