Three new scenes from the eagerly awaited Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel Legend of Korra snuck out over the weekend, and hopefully me posting them will be enough for you to forgive me for getting duped by those fan-made Hobbit Legos (the site was in French! I can't read French! I'm American, we're not built to handle two languages at once!). I'd say there's a spoiler in this clip, but since it's almost certainly from the first episode, I wouldn't worry too much about it; suffice to say Korra is an incredible badass. The other two clips are after the jump. Thanks to everybody who sent these in!

Wang Fire! That made me LOL. Thanks!
-
To be fair A:TLA took a few episodes to get everything together too.
-
I need to learn how to waterbend, the amount of druel i'm producing is getting ridiculous.
-
But hitting douchebags with shoehorns awkwardly is fun. Shoehorning should be an Olympic event.
-
Foamy! :D
-
I remember them hinting and dangling "steampunk" around the time io9 and Tor were trying to force it into being a buzzword. Thank goodness it seems, so far, that they're at least being subtle enough to go for an early 20th century Asia vibe rather than awkwardly shoehorning mid-19th century Europe and douchebags into the story.
-
Boomerang was just waiting for her opportunity.
-
"We're WORKING on it! Get off our backs!" <i>-- Science</i>
-
All series should reference Kung Fu Hustle
-
You just got Dai Li served!
-
The animation looks very nice, the voice acting on the other hand, seems stilted, unemotional and bland.
-
Don't diss the hair loopies man.
-
Sokka's dead!? No!
-
Though the mortal clay of Sokka is gone to dust, the immortal majesty of WANG FIRE (Waaang FI-YAAH!!!) shall live on forever. You can kill a man, but you cannot kill an idea. Especially when that idea has a beard women could lose thier virginity in.
-
Yeah, he wouldn't be the same. He'd be CRAZY OLD MAN SOKKA!
-
WHAT, NO OLD MAN SOKKA?! WE'VE BEEN ROBBED I TELLS YA, ROBBED!
-
More like Shanghai from the '20s/'30s. Think <em>Temple of Doom</em> or <em>Kung Fu Hustle</em>.
-
bummer.. it was removed. :(
-
Fap...fap...fap....
-
I can't wait for the series! So much joy!!!
-
You are correct! It's called "The Promise", its written by award-winning writer (and Avatar fan) Gene Luen Yuang with the creators' supervision and blessing, and the first part comes out a week from tomorrow! Here's some info and a preview: http://www.darkhorse.com/Books/18-604/Avatar-The-Last-Airbender-Volume-1-The-Promise-Part-1-TPB

Hey, when you find a look that works, you stick with it!
-
I wanna beardog. Or a dogbear. Either one, really.
-
*Foams at the mouth*. Nickelodeon should stop toying with my heart and just tell us the release date already.
-
Watch the first one. "Cena 02" will come up in the suggestions afterwards.
-
awesome..i wish my kid liked the original cartoon as much as i did so we could watch this new one together...
-
4th clip? what 4th clip? i NEED to see a another clip!!!!
-
It's ... made of ... awesome ...
-
I thought they said that everyone from the original show was dead, so to see Katara makes me so happy! Maybe some other old characters will be sprinkled in?
-
I wouldn't surprised to hear that they referenced <i>Kung-Fu Hustle</i> for this series.
-
Words cannot express how much I am looking forward to this show, whenever the hell it comes out.
-
Watch your words, I'm sure the producers of the show will be more than happy to reference the movie, at least insofar as having a weird cult of earth benders who do engage in that weird fusion of the Macarena and "steppin'".
-
He very well may have had a family. Katara and Aang had 3 kids, one of which, Tenzin, will be a main character and teacher of Korra, and even he has 3 children, himself. Toph had a daughter who will be the leader of the metalbending police. And I'm sure Zuko left at least one child as heir to the throne. I wouldn't be surprised if Sokka and Suki had some kids, as well. Whether or not they will be prominent or present at all in the show is another subject, though.
-
Polar-bear-dog.
-
Yes.
-
Great '20s / Boxer China vibe there. Shyamalan must be forced to see this entire series to understand the level of crap he directed.
-
2012. It is officially coming in 2012 according to Nickelodeon. In which month has not yet been revealed. There was a lot of unsubstantiated rumors about the air date, but nick aired a commercial with the new 2012 series and A:LoK was amongst them.
-
I spoke poorly - apologies Death completes a character's story Without it the character gets... boring? stale? All I know is it gives writers opportunity to screw them up. The fact that Sokka died means he completed his story. Unlike say a comic book hero whose story just starts over endlessly. I like that the character had a full life and they didn't feel the need to whore him out for this story. Let the story stand on its own and I'm happy. Dramatically speaking he should have had a family (as comic relief) so his kids should be about. I'm kind of hoping they don't work into children – let this stand on its own.
-
Haha. Touche, sir.
-
I think Dark Horse or something is putting out comics that cover the span in between.
-
I would expect a new hair-do
-
I was kinda hoping for a few direct do DVD animated movies telling the "Further Adventures of Aang" or something...
-
I believe so, but Toph's daughter is the leader of her metalbending police. I don't know anything about Zuko or his family after the last series yet, though.
-
These clips really have me excited! I'm loving the costumes/character design and actually enjoying the steampunky feel.
-
Are Toph and Zuko supposed to be gone too?
-
I know he would have been ancient, but that just made me really sad.
-
2015??? :( i get that Aang has to be dead for there to be a new avatar, but Sokka? That just made me really, really sad.
-
20*15*?! wtf, I thought this was coming out this year? omg, I'm never going to make it. Also, am I the only one who thinks the voice acting - particularly Korra herself - is a bit … flat? The fourth clip - the one with the metalbending (?) police, has a bit of kitsch to it. ohgod, I have such high hopes for this, I really really want it to be at least as good as the first legend.
-
How would you expect a ~85 year old woman to look? haha.
-
Also, there will be flashbacks to the previous group and the events that took place after the first series that lead to Korra's story. Also, Katara is still present as you can see from the videos and many of the old gang have left there own individual marks on the world in Korra's time (like Toph's metalbending police). So there will be direct connections between the two eras.
-
Who ever said it was a "sequel?" The first was a chronicle of Aang and his battle against Ozai and the Fire Nation. This will be a new Saga, a chronicle of Korra and her battle against the anti-bending movement. It's a continuation of the old story all the same. Same universe, same timeline, same locations, except 70 years have passed and the environments, state of the world and the featured characters will change.
-
It's 70 years after, Katara is in her mid eighties, Sokka'd be past 85. He wouldn't be the same anymore, anyway. But don't worry, there's supposed to be occasional flashbacks to Aang's group in at least the first few episodes, so you'll get to see some of him, I'm sure.
-
It's a sequel. It may not be a direct sequel, but it's still a sequel.
-
[deleted] Whoops wrong place.
-
Katara....you did not age well.
-
He's not dead! He's just undercover in the Fire Nation as Wang Fire. He'll come to save the day at the end of the first season, just you watch. Boomerang always comes back!
-
[deleted] Whoops wrong place.

There's another 31 second video on youtube with the metalbending police in it: http://www.youtube.com/watchv=kZVYYkJYxFA&context=C3f3501cADOEgsToPDskKlX76ROvcxWckNNiWqOaCF
-
But the old lady is Katara. So it's really just two or three generations alter, and considering King Bumi was over one hundred...
-
I wouldn't call this a sequel - bit of a nitpick - it's a new show in the same setting disconnected from the original by a big span of time. That's basically a new show. It's a new Avatar show.
-
Because he wasn't immortal? That not good enough? This is supposed to be generations later.
-
Sokka... Sokka's dead? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
-
Is it me, or Republic City has a strong (albeit steampunkish) Cowboy: Beebop vibe?
-
Is that a bear-dog or a dog-bear?
-
2015 can't get here soon enough!
