1) Clark Gregg will be voicing Agent Coulson, which means FUCKING AGENT COULSON IS IN THE ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN CARTOON. 2) J.K. Simmons will be voicing J. Jonah Jameson too, which instantly makes Ultimate Spider-Man a better Spider-Man franchise than the new movie. ... dammit. They got me.
-
That's because, like Deadpool, even the fourth wall cannot contain her.
-
I'm glad to hear that the Avengers are coming back. It was a damn good show, and maybe they can pick up some of the plots they planted earlier but never addressed (like Carol Danvers getting powers). I'm just hoping we get Silver Age-y Ben 10 Man of Action and not swaggering-macho-douchebag Generator Rex Man of Action. If there's one character who shouldn't fall victim to the "heroes have to be jerks" virus infecting action cartoons as of late, it's Spidey.
-
There is NEVER enough She-Hulk. And that's a fact.
-
Haven't seen this Avengers cartoon. But I will happily and unashamedly admit I do miss "Superhero Squad Show".
-
"F-U COMIC AND CARTOON INDUSTRY" You mean the same comic and cartoon industry that was mostly created by men and therefore not really morally obligated to do anything for women, yet still created a large number of female characters anyhow, THAT comic and cartoon industry?
-
This is one of those rare moments when I agree 100% with everything the above article had to say. I love The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and the news of Ultimate Spider-Man casting is very cool. However, I can't help but feel a little sad, knowing the ultimate fate of Spider-Man in the Ultimate universe. I wonder if the animated series will give Peter the same ending, or if they'll just keep going with original stories after the comic's stories are all exhausted.
-
Isn't that pretty much the plot for the Men in Black animated series?
-
It still doesn't seem in character for Big Blue to do that, given how good Ma and Pa Kent usually bring him up.
-
FINALLY!!! I am excited, however if this turns out to be a april fools joke someone is getting stabbed... that is all
-
Ultimate Spider-man sounds pretty good, but the only thing I kind of roll my eyes at is Drake Bell as Spider-man, because well...really? Nobody else came in to audition for Spidey? Hopefully, I'll be proven wrong in the first episode.
-
A S.H.I.E.L.D. cartoon with Coulson and other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, plus Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury would kick all kinds of ass.
-
It’s perfectly reasonable to reject characterization outside of what you are long accustomed to – I think the Bruce Wayne “intervention” scene was suppose to address this but was cut short. I know the characters but don’t have a strong attachment to their portrayal so when I saw Superman wasn’t being aggressively mean to Superboy, he was ignoring him completely, passively aggressive, I saw “textbook absentee father” who doesn’t see themselves as causing harm, but rather avoiding a relationship that was forced upon them and that spoke to me as someone who holds some regrets for never having a family.
-
I see it as woefully out of character for a guy who's supposed to be the nicest superhero in the DCU - Especially since HE was adopted.
-
I can see that – I guess it depends on how well you connect to their stories. I thought that it was clever how they portrayed Superman as the absentee father. IMO failure to take on responsibilities doesn’t make one a “giant tool” it makes one immature and irresponsible which meshed perfectly with Superman’s very narrow roll in the world and his view of that roll – he feels he is doing everything he should while missing the bigger smaller picture. I keep waiting for someone to point out that Superboy is the closest thing he’ll ever get to having a son, which he should be grateful for, but Superman doesn’t see this as an opportunity to connect to someone who can actually understand him and instead just sees as evidence of a violation against himself and a betrayal by his adopted home. I found it internally consistent and interesting.
-
Still needs more She Hulk.
-
Good, she is hawt. Wait, when there are lots of female characters it is still sexist! FUCK!
-
Agent Coulson should have its own series. The Avenger cartoon is awesome. It finally delves into the whole MU universe, not another origin series.
-
I am too! Wait, what?
-
Well... Robin is actually pretty fun, Kid Flash is a goofball who almost makes up for how annoying Artemis is, and Miss Martian... Well, I don't hate her OR Aqualad. They're just... There. I don't really hate Superboy, either, but I don't like him much. And then you have Superman, who's a giant tool. I hate Artemis' guts, though.
-
Couldn’t get into Avengers, but I haven’t liked most of the Marvel properties where Chris Yost is involved.
-
Yay! I really like the Avengers cartoon, let's hope U. Spidey is as good as "Spectacular". That Show had such a good run.
-
I would dearly love to see them give a nod to Peter David's Hulk vs. Super Skrull storyline (from back near the end of the Gray Hulk days). But that might first require them to upgrade the cooperation between Banner and the Hulk. (Although tactical craftiness was never a Banner nor a Green Hulk characteristic.)
-
This should be a poster. Of... a poster. I guess.
-
Or if you're in another Country and they don't even show the stuff with a crappy dub around your way. I do buy it on DVD later on too, at least that way I have a choice between the original voices or the crappy local dub.
-
Well the whole genre does target a young male audience demographic, yes women buy comic books in enough numbers to justify work being put out for them, but frankly marketing to women is hard. What young men want is very simple while what women of any age past puberty want is complex, if not actually unknowable. I wouldn't say that it's being sexist, it's simply being marketed.
-
That's what torrents are for. If companies won't allow streaming, they should expect it. Then I buy the DVDs just to keep karma happy.
-
Possibly, but they did say they're introducing fewer characters this season. I'll watch and enjoy another season of focusing on fun plots, but I'm just a bit hopeful that they'll use the space made from having fewer characters to introduce to give us more of what makes the characters tick.
-
Given the cliffhanger to S1 of Avengers, I'm excited we're getting S2. That Skrull bastard impersonating Captain America is goingto get one hell of an asskicking, methinks.
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twBX71FPu58 Here's an Avengers Season 2 trailer! It looks awesome!
-
Ms. Marvel is confirmed to join the team in Season 2.
-
I prefer Avengers (because I'm 75% about the story and 25% about the characters) although I'd say Young Justice was better done overall (even though I agree completely about the Joker and Dr Fate).
-
I'm interested in knowing which ones you liked - I found them portrayed in an annoyingly angsty stereotypical teenager way, but they were consistent within the context of the story which I enjoyed.
-
I kind of am of the impression that what we see is what we're going to get with the Avengers - I don't really mind that though I enjoy it for what it is.
-
When I hit NYCC last year, I got into the Marvel TV properties panel. Two relevant things: 1. USM is going to be different from Spectactualr Spider-Man, which I consider to be the best Spidey toon. Apparently, they're going to be cramming in Teen Titans-style stuff in there. On the other hand, you won't believe how Agent Coulson (who made the panel, BTW) will be incorporated into Peter's life. 2. I got to see the second season opener of A:EMH: "The Private War Of Doctor Doom." To say it kicks ass is an understatement. There was a lot of laughter and cheering during the screening . .. though oddly enough, nobody sang along to the theme song. Odd.
-
If I can channel my inner Thor - "I SAY THEE YAY!!"
-
Never mind that Wasp is probably one of the better characters on the series. That's my view, anyway. But yeah - Carol Danvers as portrayed so far has been great.
-
Eh; I liked EMH more. Yes, there's less focus on character. But on Young Justice, I struggle to actually care about the characters themselves. I think a lot of it is the subpar voice casting. I have not been a fan of many of the casting choices- Ed Asner didn't work as Dr Fate at all, and their Joker reimagining was.... well, I get what they were going for, and it fell flat. Conversely, Brave and the Bold - very different tonally, but what made it work, in a lot of cases, was the excellent casting. They picked great voice actors and the guest roles were all appropriate. (Case in point - compare Ed Asner as Dr Fate (we need an old guy) or Brent Spiner's Joker to the Fonz for Ambush Bug (we're doing a shark jumping episode; let's use the original shark jumper!) Or even Paul Reubens for Bat-Mite
-
The problem is, there's only like three characters in YJ who are remotely likeable.
-
somebody what to tell her about Ms Marvel joining?
-
New art, new story, same sexist crap! I can already tell these new cartoons will be devoid of meaningful female characters. All the focus on stupid males shit! WTF is wrong with the cartoon industry?
-
That just makes me sad when I remember that J K Simmons doesn't consider himself a good actor. When an actor takes me through a complete emotional arc in the few seconds of a single scene without me thinking about the performance or the writing - they've got skills.
-
New story, new art, Same sexist crap! I can already tell its going to be the old ratio of 1:10 for women and men. Blech! F-U COMIC AND CARTOON INDUSTRY
-
Hopefully one of the benefits to introducing fewer characters in the second season of Avengers will mean that they develop the ones they have a bit more/better. I know everyone's excited for their favorite D-lister to get the animated treatment, but that just ends up being an endless stream of flat characters and no time to develop the regulars.
-
Yep, I have to agree. While both suffered with their share of problems EMH focused on story providing a nice narrative arc and as a result little attention was given to character development - Young Justice focused on characters and the plot seemed to work itself around those nicely even though that meant some episodes I considered "filler". If both don't shift things around a bit they'll eventually get stale no matter how well they're done.
-
Aside from suffering from the shallowness of story that is inherent in childrens shows I didn't find anything inexplicable about the cartoon which makes me think that "something happened that didn't make any sense" and "a character did something dumb" are really a case of "something happened while we were distracted by something shiny and then were too drunk or too stupid to understand"
-
Yeah, I am waiting on the last third of Young Justice as well. The DVD with the last few episodes is scheduled for Late February so they need to start playing the episodes soon.
-
I burned through the Avengers when it came on Netflix. I have been patiently waiting for season 2. Awesome news.
-
Finally! We've been waiting for a year for season 2 to begin!
-
JK Simmons really is the quintessential JJJ. Looking forward to both shows!
-
Honestly, I thought that Avengers: EMH did a really great job, but I think I liked Young Justice better. I can't put my finger on why because it's been a while since I watched them both, but I feel like Young Justice did a better job of developing the emotional arcs of the characters. There was one where the team all got psychologically interviewed by Black Canary, and it was super great.
-
nice to see the avengers cartoon finaly coming back and the same time as ultimate spider man though the date has me wondering if Disney and marvel are really going to turn around and the whole thing is a april fools joke that the cartoons have a differant premire date
-
" I can't wait, people. I cannot wait" hehe. I see what you did there.
-
You know why I'm excited for Ultimate Spider-Man? besides J.K. Simmons, I mean. Man of Action and Paul Dini are involved. Yeah, Man of Action, the guys who made a pretty fun and rather Silver Age-y kid's series with Ben 10 (and weren't involved at all with the shitty sequels) and the awesome Generator Rex - are working with Paul freaking Dini. This almost makes me forgive Spectacular Spider-Man's cancellation. Almost.
-
April 1st? Please tell me this is not going to be a joke.
-
"When Parker gives you photos, don't print them. Make Parker take the photos back! Get mad! I don't want your damn photos, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see Parker's manager! Make Parker rue the day he thought he could give J. Jonah Jameson photos! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the news! I'm gonna get my editors to invent a combustible newspaper that burns your house down!"
-
Of course, I am canceling my cable and then these coime back on Well at least they put out the DVD's pretty quick
-
this season on Avengers Guardians of the Galaxy! YES!
-
Let me address this with a simple response. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
I thought the Avengers cartoon was pretty dumb, but I enjoyed playing the Avengers Cartoon Drinking Game with my roommate. This involved drinking whenever: - a character did something dumb - a hero did something that should result in a large amount of property damage and/or civilian casualties - something happened that didn't make any sense
