Good morning. Discotek just announced they've licensed the Kyattou Ninden Teyande anime for a U.S. home video release. You may know the series better as Samurai Pizza Cats. Sounds like Discotek will be releasing the U.S. adaptation and the original Japanese version, albeit separately; I'm going to assume any consternation caused by this decision is overwhelmed by the joy you feel that Samurai Pizza Cats is actually, finally, coming out on DVD. Probably check it out, but I was always more of a TMNT fan that SPC. Think I watched it like twice when it originally aired?
When I was half asleep getting ready for school, this was pretty funny. I recorded a couple episodes and watched them when I was fully awake and functioning...
It was the dumbest thing I had ever had the displeasure of watching.
Fist of the North Star, Lupin, Getter, Casshan, Samurai Pizza Cats...Discotek wants all my money, and they can have it.
om never thought i would see this show hit dvd and including the original version together. the dvd market must be exerience a change . now its just waiting for it to have a release date
I read somewhere that the guy who sang the Samurai Pizza Cats theme song got shitfaced drunk before he recorded it.
That's so awesomely appropriate that I can't stand it.
While I'm happy for everyone who is excited for Samurai Pizza Cats, what I am most pumped for is the fact that later on last night, Discotek announced that America will finally get Texas Mac the anime(Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo) on BLU-RAY!
Also, obligatory THIS CANNON HAS TOO MUCH HIGH POWER MAN!! GOODO DAZE JAPANESE MOUNTAIN MONKEY!!!
Wait, WHAAAT?!! SERIOUSLY?! Shin Getter VS. Neo Getter? On DVD? FINALLY?!
Jesus Christ, Discotek is my absolute favourite company. Fist of the North Star, Green Jacket Lupin III, Galaxy Express 999, and now the final Getter Robo OVA? What's next? Future Boy Conan? Ashita no Joe? Captain Harlock? Space Adventure Cobra? I wouldn't put it past them!
Nah not the film, I meant the Osamu Dezaki 70's TV series that predated the film. At least in the UK we already HAVE the movie, and I know France and Italy they already have ALL of the above series I mentioned out on DVD.
Well, my inner ten year-old is jumping up & down in glee over the prospect of seeing the entire show again, but the older me is crying over the beating his wallet will no doubt likely take. Go figure. Still totally worth it.
