yeah, wilson was the guy who screened birth of a nation at the whitehouse, the flick that started the whole kkk resurgence. coolidge was boring but safe; and he gave the indians citizenship, for what it's worth. wilson would have been more to hitler's liking also given the stances he took in the treaty of versaille (sic) in which he advocated leniency to germany.
I think you are thinking about Woodrow Wilson. Coolidge was actually pretty beneficial to blacks.
Yeah, definitely thinking of Wilson. Coolidge was relatively cool for his time on race issues. Boring, anti-union/pro-business politician, but not a foaming racist.
Wilson was pretty racist, but this seems far more extreme than anything he ever did. I mean, you don't give military training to people you plan on wiping out.
