Remind me again how is it the ADCU can put more creativity in 30 seconds than the DCU can in 12 months. *sigh*
When Young Justice and Green Lantern: TAS finally return on September 29th, they won't be alone... and they better watch where they step. The two cartoons will be joined by the Justice League of Animals, including Supermanatee, Wonder Wombat, and AquaMandrill, whose name I can't even type without giggling uncontrollably, in a series of new DC Nation shorts. Honestly, DC, if you just want to cancel everything and give me the Brave and the Bold Aquaman / AquanMandrill Superhero Awesome Hour, I'd be totally fine with that. (Via Comics Alliance)
More links from around the web!
I was just about to say, this looks like his work. Or someone doing a good copy of his style.
There was - and that JLA was tons of fun. I'm thinking (and nothing to back this up) that Time-Warner/DC did not want to pay Scott Shaw (I'm sorry, Scott Shaw!) any money so they retooled the concept. Or they did just enough so they could avoid paying him a *lot* of money...
What if he sounded like Snagglepuss? "GIVE IT UP, LIGER!" "Ssssupermanatee! Exssssit! Sssstage left even!!!"
I totally can't wait to see Ambush Bugbug, Batbatman, And Krypto the Wonderdogman.
When I heard about an animal Justice League, I thought they'd go stereotypical: Batman be a Bat, Aquaman be some sort of fish, the Flash be some sort of speedy animal like a cheetah... The complete upside-down-ness(?) of my original thoughts makes me want to watch this all the more! Supermanitee!? Aquamandrill of Apelantis!? That is great!
Those were fantastic! Just A'lot of Animals: Super Squirrel AquaduckGreen LambkinAlleyCatdabraWonder Wabbit
Of course Aqua Mandrill, monkey king of Apelantis will do no such thing! Now if Supermanatee had simply asked if he would just too the stuff all around, it might of been another story. Maybe even a FANtastically, if FICtional, Story.
lol warners and dc after they finish burning off the final remains of young justice. should look at making this one a series and pair it with captain carrot and the zoo crew. and aquaman series would be hilerious as an animated comedy
Wasn't there a DC JLA animal parody already "Justa Lotta Animals"? IIRC, they met Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew. Ahhhh...when comics were fun.
And what appears to be Batmouse would be kind of racist..or at least species-ist, too. "I need to strike fear in the hearts of criminals," says the mouse. "I know! I'll dress like a bat! Everybody is afraid of those guys! The last person you want to meet in a dark alley in the city is one of them! They have a reputation!" (Or is the Batmouse a Bat that dresses like a Bat, in which case it might be a clever commentary on playing into racial stereotypes. He could be a harmless, mild-mannered fruit bat that dresses like a blood-sucking, vampire bat...and, you know, bats have a reputation for carrying rabies...)
... I just realized how secretly racist AquaMandrill is. In this reality, fish are just another race, like any other kind of human. Imagine if someone had the power to command Filipinos with his mind. That's just... I have no words.
