I gotta say, though, that Unca Scrooge looks a little...blank faced. Maybe slightly eager, if anything.
I'd kinda expect a LITTLE emotion, in an adventurous situation like, from a man—er, duck of his age.
DuckTales...woo-hoo! Now this is nostalgia taken to the next level. Start with the original side-scrolling NES game, add contemporary graphics, new voice work and a couple of levels the original needed but didn't have - one with the ability to swim in Scrooge's money, for example - get some all-new voice casting...
And yeah, sing that theme song from our childhoods incessantly.
Watch the trailer after the jump. Then talk amongst yourselves as to which other Nintendo games need the same treatment. I could go for some revamped Contra games, because fighting aliens just isn't the same when you're not doing it under the moniker of Nicaraguan rebels controversially funded by Iranian arms sales.

More links from around the web!
That looks awesome. I played the NES version and Gameboy version until I found all the secret areas. The NES game was so incredibly fun and memorable. Nice work Capcom and Disney. Hopefully it's not a April Fool's joke.
@Epicpodquest Yeah, I downloaded it a while back, just haven't had time to play it :(
I just want to point out something, because the eager kid in me is totally doing this:

LYT mentioned Contra as a candidate for this treatment. Has anybody played Contra 4? As a longtime fan of the series, I was BLOWN AWAY. It is totally vamped up, bigger and badder, but they did such a great job of making it feel like the original games! Nearly every boss has 2 forms: its old 'classic' version, which is pretty tough in its own right, but then they will shake off their skin/armor or do something crazy and become this new expanded version of the same boss. AND it was made by Wayforward, the people who did this DuckTales edition.
Sigh. I feel better.
Alright, Disney, Capcom has done their part! Now give us the final volume of Ducktales...or if you're feeling generous, give us a complete series set with some remastered transfers (recently rewatched all available episodes and while I still love them, they look rough) and some decent extras!
DAMN YOU CAPCOM, FOR TOYING WITH MY NOSTALGIA AND TRYING TO CASH ON IT!
...So where do I preorder?
I always thought it was "D-d-danger LURKS behind you" in the original... just checked the actual opening, and it doesn't sound like "watch" to me.
thought the same thing for years and i am convinced thats how it is sung regardless of what other sung versions and lyric sites say :P
As for NES games to get the same treatment - you only need to do this with games that were actually flawed to begin with. Games like Mega Man 2 and Duck Tales don't need a remastered edition because the originals are perfect to begin with.
Whereas NES games that *just slightly* missed the mark would be good ideas. Someone mentioned Shatterhand below and that's a great candidate. Rockin' Katz as well. Blades of Steel would obviously rule even more if you programmed it to include 30 teams and full rosters (and, you know, uniforms that weren't the product of an insane, colour-blind, Japanese programmer).
But if it's just adding flashier animations like this Duck Tales remake? Nah. Not needed.
(Duck Tales has one obvious caveat, in that I don't believe it's been available on Virtual Console. An overanimated remake is preferable to it not being available at all)
@step5555 Jeez, someone sure came in here prepared to play the role of the killjoy...I mean, we do always need one, but with this many posts...=P
@SlyDante777 @step5555 Remakes aren't per se better than the original, and oftentimes are much, much worse. Look at the abomination that was Tecmo Bowl Kickoff for the GBA. You need a good reason to remake a game other than "well, we cam make it shinier!"
As I said, Duck Tales does have a semi-reasonable excuse for an unnecessary because it's been "out of print" since the NES days. But just putting out the original via Virtual Console would've worked perfectly fine.
The question will be how smart they are with this thing. Bionic Commando worked because they cleaned up the rougher edges. But the NES Duck Tales didn't HAVE any rough edges - it was Capcom at the height of their powers. That's why Duck Tales 2 was more of the same - they literally couldn't make the game any better.
So if they just re-do the five levels with (unnecessary) flashier animation? It won't be worth the purchase.
(Also, I think that whomever made this trailer doesn't "get" the original game - because the Duck Tales theme isn't what people associate with the NES game, it's the the Moon music.)
@step5555@ILDCPerhaps, but I suspect the theme song is better known overall. I mean, it seems like you can't even say the name without someone following with "woo-oo!"
And it's not just a straight remake, to address your previous concern: http://gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=198663
and since LYT is so hate filled towards PC gaming I'll point out that "all" the playable factions in Total War Rome II have now been revealed: Rome, Carthage, Macedonia, Partha, Egypt, Iceni (Brits), Arverni (Celts), Suebi (Germans) and doubtlessly others will be added as DLC later on
I shall be looking forward to this.

@TheConjurerOfCheapTricks They confirmed that the money bin is indeed a playable area.
Also old school (but not NES old school) Capcom related: they're releasing the DnD arcade beat 'em ups on all current major systems
The fact that I have seen that trailer at least six times today so far should be an indicator as to how f***ing awesome I find all of this. 8D
Also, NES games I'd like to see given the same treatment...well, pretty much any quality NES game from 1991 forward, I'd say, since the SNES deprived them of quite a bit of attention. The ones that pushed the system to the limit but we sadly never got to play...titles like Shatterhand, Little Samson, Vice: Project Doom, Power Blade, & many more.
Also, it goes without saying that Darkwing Duck & Rescue Rangers need to follow this formula as well, possibly with the lesser-known Rescue Rangers 2 & DuckTales 2 as well.
On a slightly related note, it turns out those reports from Capcom's PAX conference that Capcom is working on a new Mega Man game were false, & therefore someone will have to die for this.
@SlyDante777 After Mega Man 10 I kinda don't want Capcom to make another. MM9 was brilliant, but 10... they're out of ideas again. Wait another five years and get back to me.
@SlyDante777 I'm going to be optimistic and assume that they are working on it, but just haven't got anything concrete *yet* so as not to have a repeat of the Universe and Legends 3 dashing of hopes.
@TheBloodyAwfulPoet If that is all you needed to say, why did you post it twice?
@SlyDante777 @TheBloodyAwfulPoet To be fair, that's still all TBAP said.
Plus, you know, he (she?) is a bloody awful poet. Kinda goes with the territory.
which other Sega games need the same treatment................
which other Nintendo games need the same treatment................
@arivalscientist I loved the original Battletoads. I remember when I finally finished it. Now there is a pattern memory game.
@arivalscientist Wow. I never knew they were named after skin afflictions. Never cared enough to know. But that's nuts.
I hope they get Joe Satriani to do the music.
I want Rescue Rangers to get the same treatment.
And Darkwing Duck since I never had it.
The using the original voice actors part(where possible) really surprised me on top of this already pleasant surprise.
@BumblebeeZ3 Better yet, bring back the Disney Afternoon! No one likes your lame kiddie sitcoms Disney!
@ILDC @skrag2112 @BumblebeeZ3 Those may stay. I'm talking about their live action shows.
