Getting sued over a ripoff Hobbit movie has clearly not deterred them. The good news for Guillermo del Toro is that this proves the marketplace has confidence his version will be enough of a hit to be worth ripping off.
Atlantic Rim stars Treach and Graham Greene. Dare we hope it will at least be Man-In-Suit?

@Someguy @PCabezuelo God I loved this show as a kid. Duct tape is still awesome.
I fully support this utterly ridiculous rip-off... I'm not buying it and I will never see it but I... well, I guess I don't fully support it, if that's the case... how about, I CONCEPTUALLY support this utterly ridiculous rip-off
I'll probably be the only one to admit this, but I like some of Asylums horror movie ripoffs they did a few years ago.
I watched Nazis at the Earth's Core a couple of weeks ago and found it...not entirely appalling. If The Asylum is trying to be the Troma of the modern age, they sure succeeded with this one. Nudity, gore, forced abortions, mecha-Hitler and Jake Busey reforging the broken sword of his father. It reminded me of the golden age of 70's exploitation movies.
"Dare we hope it will at least be Man-In-Suit?"
I wish. That would actually be a step up for The Asylum, compared to their usual fare of "CGI monster does minor damage to conveniently deserted town."
Also, white I can't deny that this a vote of confidence for Pacific Rim's success, I must sadly point out that The Asylum has also bet money on films such as 10,000 BC, Land of the Lost, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, & most recently, Jack the Giant Slayer being financial blockbusters worth building cash-ins around as well.
Also, I'm confused by the assload of planes in the background. If we have that much firepower on hand, why do we need a giant robot? Or why does the giant robot need backup? Or are those the aliens? I thought they were coming from beneath the sea somehow! And if they are aliens, why is the robot not fighting them? Aaaargh, this film isn't even out yet & already my brain is being fried!!
@10glfan59 Yeah, but fifty of them? Kind of a bit of overkill there. Plus, they kind of make for a bit of a notable c***block.
They should've called it Pacific Rimmer, then they could rip off two properties at once:

@DylanRaishe Nah. That movie would just be about giant robots retiring to live on Fiji.
But who is controlling the giant robot? Us? The aliens? I need more clarity here people. And will the Transmorphers save us?
@Canadian.Scott According to the article in the link, they're giant A.I. robots. because if science fiction has taught us anything, putting our lives & safety in the hands of extremely advanced A.I. never ever goes wrong at all.
Also, if what I remember from Film Brain's review is true, the Transmorphers were actually the villains. Though they could save us so they can enslave us later, but that actually makes sense, so yeah, The Asylum will probably just have them rescue us.
@SlyDante777 @Canadian.Scott Well, it helped once.

From the comments in that article, which I think is pretty accurate. "I imagine it'll be a ninety minute film filled with seventy two minutes of exposition and build up, ten minute of choppy monster rampaging, five minutes of gratuitous sex, and three minutes of actual robot vs. monster carnage."
@SlyDante777 @Canadian.Scott AI robots...oh boy...yes I can see no problem with that plan.
I didn't think I would be using this image twice today but here we are...Asylum decides to rip off a nerd product with no regard for backlash.

@ToplessRobot What about Indian Rim? Arctic Rim? ANTarctic Rim? . . . Mediterranean Rim?
@TheMadWhitaker @ToplessRobot Anytime I see ANT in a title it makes me wish Maxis would have made another Simant game, that one was fun.
@TheMadWhitaker @ToplessRobot Urban Dictionary is about to have a ton of new definitions.
@TheMadWhitaker @ToplessRobot I'd go with ANTarctic Rim, if only because the pun is too irresistible. How would you NOT be able to have a giant ant monster with ice breath in that one?
@SlyDante777 @ToplessRobot wait - I've seen that movie
@Gallen_Dugall @SlyDante777 @ToplessRobot Huh...You know, I think I remember seeing a similar film as well. Clearly, one of us must have a mockbuster on our hands...
@SlyDante777 @ToplessRobot I would watch the living moose out of that movie.
