It's technically a rumor at this point, but I've already convinced myself it's true -- Comedy Central has ordered a new 13-episode season Futurama, according to Collider and an "inside source." I guess I really have no idea what Collidert's track record is with these things, but man, I want this so bad that I refuse to admit it's mostly a rumor. Also, if you were thinking about buying that "complete" Futurama DVD set I mentioned last DVD Day, well, you might want to hold off.

:D yay!

Finally! About time...

I hope to God this is true! The DVD movies were okay, but only Bender's Big Score was as good as some of the better episodes of the show. If garbage like Family Guy gets a second lease on life, then Futurama most certainly deserves it.

I've been begging for this since the first DVD movie. The 4 movies are good, but not great like the TV series. Futurama works best in 30 minute doses. This is exciting

Have some Slurm and rejoice or we will kill you meatbag!

I named my cat Sweet Clyde. He is my best friend. This should communicate how happy I am about this news.
-
Fuck, yeah! But I hope they get it right. Those DVDs are a bit corny. Futurama works as a series anyway...
-
Looks like "Bender's back, baby!" Futurama definitely worked better in episodes, and it'll be great to see some new ones. Hope this pans out.

And yet this thread is filled with perfectly civil people who appear to be ecstatic about the prospect Other than you, to whom I was referring to specifically. But no matter. It's readily apparent that your emotional well-being is far too intimately tied up in in this tv show to take notice of such things. You've been pwnt, buddy. Face it, you've got shitty taste. Oh please. As if you had the objectivity to make any sort of evaluation about taste.

So Futurama gets renewed and I still don't have new Firefly? I guess there is a God, he's just kind of a prick.
-
Isn't the DVD movies supposed to air as a 13 episode season on Comedy Central? I have a vague memory of Matt Groening talking about using the scissors, mixing it up, adding something new, and voila: a whole new season. If so, is the news from Collider about a second season after that one, or has those plans been scrapped and replaced by an acctually new season?

And yet this thread is filled with perfectly civil people who appear to be ecstatic about the prospect, and not to ignore the fact that the show has been resurrected at least once. You've been pwnt, buddy. Face it, you've got shitty taste.

Am...am I dreaming? Someone pinch me, I want to make sure that I'm not dreaming.

Don't funk with my heart.

this just proves if the rumor becomes true that some good things like futurama refuse to die. and thankfully this time its not on fox which no doubt is proably upset that they killed the gold mine the show is for after all if family guy can live Futurama should live as balance. hope the rumor is true
-
Not to be a killjoy, and as much as it personally offends my own pragmatic sensibilities to say it, suggesting that Futurama fans *NOT* buy more DVD sets very possibly isn't the best tack when you WANT the network to pick up the show... Say, while I'm thinking of it, has anyone ever done the numbers on how much of the DVD market is propped up just by series' that Fox has canceled?

Lemme get in at the ground floor and say 'screw you buddy' and all like you. Futurama is life. Long may it live. Die, die, die? God, what a miserable goddamn philistine. I hope you get gout. Ah, with fans like these, what need has Futurama of enemies? Long may its putrescent corpse continue to rot.

I think it just works better as a half-hour show -- the writers have to get punchy with the ideas, and they can't just indulge themselves, which is fun for them but drags down the story for us. As to it's renewal, if it's not true, let's all go over and punch Collider in the comments system.

>> Die, die, die? God, what a miserable goddamn philistine. Perhaps he's German, and is so excited that he's trying to stammer out 'The Futurama! It returns!' but keeps getting stuck on the first word.

@Sappy404: you take that back damn you!!

*squints eyes* I see what you did there!"

Please be true!! Buddha! Zeus! God! One of you guys help us! Satan, you owe me! @Sappy404: Come on. The movies weren't.. that bad...maybe... well, at least it was new Futurama and it did have some pretty good jokes. Without that this idea wouldn't have popped up.

Sweet something of somewhere! Dare I but hope? I want to believe but I've been burned before.
-
Hopefully it's more like the original series and less like the disappointing DVD movies.
-
*Hyperventilates* YES!
-
Even Better News! If it's not Fox, they can't start shuffling the time and day they air it starting week 2, and then cancel it cuz no one is watching it (cuz no one can find out when the damn thing is on).
