You know how some people cry when they see Van Gogh's Starry Night or other great works of art? I get that now. Thanks to citizenzero080 for the tip. (Via Gizmodo)

look people, i know that its a lot of money but i already have the Imperial Death Star, the original Imperial Star Destroyer that came out in 2007, a Republic Venator Class Star Destroyer. i do believe that having the Super Imperial Star Destroyer Executor will be a grat touch for any Imperial fan. i am still waiting for Lego to get off Hoth and snowspeeders and millenium Falcons and start focusing on TIE Hunters, TIE Phantoms, and scimater Bombers. Lego has only went with 2 designs based off of expanded Universe. 1. TIE Crawler 2. TIE Defender and if you want to be technical you can also say the TIE Collection had a TIE /D with small brain in the cockpit.
-
People pay a lot more for replicas of works of art that are not this wonderful. This is a completely justifiable $400, and thank you for bringing this to my attention.
-
Um... it's HUGE. Four feet long. What are they going to charge, $20? Legos are pretty expensive in the first place. The "Emerald Knight" steam train set that my son wanted for his birthday was $100, and it's nowhere near as big as this.
-
YES. How adorable is a teeny tiny Imperial-class?
-
I love the tiny little Star Destoryer it comes with that appears to be roughly the same size as Darth Vader. Boy do I wish I had an extra $400 lying around.
-
I wish it was another 2 feet long and an extra $200, just so it could be MORE in scale with the Star Destroyer 10030. That was 2 foot. This is four. They should probably double it. This is the Executor for crying out loud! The first time this thing showed up on the screen my jaw dropped.
-
Why is it so expensive? I would have bought that if I could afford it :( They are charging way to much for such a great part of any lego/star wars fan.
-
What about a Lego Executor strapped on top of a Mini (provided it can carry the weight)?
-
-sniff- Fricking. Beautiful!
-
I owned the 3x3 model of the Tie Interceptor when I was a kid and it was Awesome. This should be just as cool, if not better.
-
$400?!?! NOOOOO!!!! Why must you tease me like this....(curls up on the floor and sobs)
-
Talk about timing: http://news.yahoo.com/comics/foxtrot#id=/comics/uclickcomics/20110612/cx_ft_uc/ft20110612

PS3 $300 for a video game. iPad, $500 for a casual game touchpad. Tesla $80,000 for an electric car. blah blah yada yada.
-
Cars 2, Pirates.... don't forget the AWESOME minifigures sets..
-
So it's basically official now" Lego now exists solely to make "Sta Wars" products.
-
Why? It's got instructions, so no genius involved.
-
I'm on your side sir. Minis rock.
-
ROFLMAO! Well played, ZADL; well played indeed.
-
Forget that I said toy, but $400 is still a lot of money for many people to layout on a singular item like this.
-
"Why would a zombie need a Mini?" Cornering, baby! Cornering! Plus we dig the retro-chic look, the wild customization options, and the fact that in a turbo we can still get up to 42 MPG on the highway! AND we can outrun all those armored SUVs out there trying to shoot at us! Who's gonna run out of gas first? It won't be me, that's for sure. When the Apocalypse comes, I'll be getting 460 miles to my tank of gas and looking good at the same time in my Chili Red and Black R56S with checkers, dodging bullets and obstacles.
-
Don't be too proud of this plastic terror you've constructed. The ability to build a Lego set is insignificant next to the power of the Force.
-
That is cool.
-
Why would a zombie need a Mini? Don't you just shuffle from place to place? Wait, that's insensitve to zombies, isn't it? Sorry.
-
It's beautiful. *Wipes tears threatening to spring out*
-
More power to you!
-
Finally I have something to crash into my Lego Death Star II!
-
You'll have to build a bigger cup.
-
If only it wasn't $400. Sigh.
-
Yeah... based on my 1k build of the Millenium Falcon, a 3k piece will probably consume anywhere between 8-12hrs... I look forward to it immensely though.
-
I would say that is more a collectors item, saying it is a toy implies that it would be for a child. I am assuming that the estimated target range of the set is mid-teen or older. Fact is the target demographic for the set is mid 20's-30's. And I still stand by the fact that by comparison it is justifiable. Most toy's feature less than 30 parts at best, require much less design (especially with action figures since many of them are recycled builds), and feature less than stellar quality most of the time. Take for example, Mega Bloks. They happen to be of a much lower price range; but suffer from being cheaply crafted having inferior design, and hardly any of their sets exceed 100 pcs. I am not saying that it isn't expensive, but I am saying that it is justified. You pay for the quality that you get.
-
It's still $400 for a toy.
-
EDIT - Rather than starting a pissing war, I think I'll just say that Jeremy Clarkson thinks you're wrong. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L3o5NP_lV4
-
Wow, I was thinking "Oh my glory, I have to have this!" until I saw, not the price, but the number of blocks. I have zero patience for puzzles or legos and as much as I love Star Wars, it'd probably get thrown down the hall in a fit of rage as well.
-
I think I just filled the cup. The cup was 11' tall and made out of Lego, but yet it's full......
-
omg talk about the ulimate Lego set. any one who forks over the bucks willl not only have to be true Lego genius to take the time to put it together but once done will be in a class of their own as Lego builders.
-
Really? It works out to being just under 13 cents per piece, which is a pretty decent price. When considering packaging, licensing, and the initial design process it is really a reasonable price. People always remark on how expensive Lego is, but considering the number of pieces each set comes with they are fairly modestly priced... Also, $400 is nothing in comparison to the grand it will go for on ebay in two years...
-
There is nothing you can do to make a MINI cool, so you might as well get the LEGO Executor.
-
I've got the first UCS Star Destroyer they made years ago and it's friggin' awesome. I'm seriously considering getting this to have them next to each other. So tempting....
-
So it's not to scale with the Lego figures? Dammit, I want a scale Lego Executor! What else am I going to put on a yard the size of a football field?!?
-
I am really going to try to justify 400 bucks for this, but man it is awesome, but 400
-
Damn there goes the money I was saving to buy a computer for The Old Republic.
-
It's ... glorious.
-
Hazzah! Now I have to start saving my ducats...
-
I love that it comes with a mini Star Destroyer for scale. Perfection
-
In my klutzy, forgetful hands, I can't commit to the "no disintegrations" part of it.
-
God damn it LEGO. Now I have to decide between plastic awesomeness, and doing cool stuff to my MINI. Grrrr.... Alta Intake and new sway bars, or Star Destroyer. The PoTC stuff was hard enough to resist....

No Boba???
