• I hope it doesn't happen the creators of Supernatural do not have the stuff to carry it. Wish they did but they don't. The whole point of Deadman would be the character development from a man wanting revenge to realizing that he can be a hero, and if Kripke can handle something that he can't in his current show, then it will not work

• There's a well-known phenomenon in research psych known as "learned helplessness".  You inflict random suffering upon test subjects and give them no way to escape or avoid it, and soon they stop trying to resist it at all.  They just seem to accept pain as being inevitable and lose the ability to hope and thrive.  Of course, rats in cages do not have access to alcohol, but observation suggests this would not make any detectable difference.

• Yet Human Target still managed to be a good show, IMO. I mean, it HAD to be. Why else would Fox have cancelled it? :-P

• A Deadman TV show seems very doable. You could have a different story every episode with an underlining arc, plus you wouldn't have to blow the budget on a bunch of special effects, because it's really all about a ghost who goes from body to body. It might have a Twilight Zone feel to it. 

• I disagree--I think this has a high likelihood of happening. It would look NOTHING like the comics--it wouldn't be set in the DC universe, it would have nothing to do with superheroes whatsoever, he certainly wouldn't wear that high-collared costume--but it's got TV series written all over it. As @Drakonnen:disqus pointed out, it's just like Quantum Leap; it wouldn't surprise me if the pitch to the suits was "It's Quantum Leap meets The Ghost Whisperer (or Buffy or whatnot)". Remember; tantamount to networks is how much a show would cost; this premise is high-concept, low-cost, which is exactly the kind of thing they like. This will at least go to pilot.

• I just pictured a string of genre guest stars all attempting to do Boston's speech patterns and that I cannot turn this immediately into a YouTube video directly from my brain is the biggest tragedy about this story.

• That's what kills it for me too. Supernatural is the only show I can watch on that network and that has everything to do with Ben Edlund.

• God I would love this. I wish someone would bring back Darkman too. And maybe redo M.A.N.T.I.S

• Deadman could be a great show. Keep Boston a smartass. Play it like Quantum Leap meets the fugitive and you have a hit. This will happen because this is an unknown character and so much can be done with the concept. It could be Quantum leap if Al was the one leaping.

• On the other hand, no lead actor means it could be cheap. And you'd probably have Boston Brand for out-of-body bits.

• Sandman and even Deadman are concepts that would be better served as a series on HBO (or another pay cable network) that can take more chances with the series. I suppose Deadman is obscure enough that you can make some changes to adapt it to television, but it would probablytake away from the concept. My opinion on Sandman, however, is to leave it the hell alone. Just like Preacher. And Watchmen... ah, crap.

• Forgive me, but neither this nor the Sandman series ever sounded good. This is the CW we're talking about.

• I can instantly see the networks' problem with a Deadman show, and it's the exact same problem they had with another DC property that was turned into a TV show last year. The central premise of The Human Target is that he's a guy who disguises himself as other people.  Peter Milligan's series made excellent use of the issues of identity that flow from such a career. But on film, that means your protagonist must be played by a different actor every week.  It's a show without a regular lead, and networks don't like anthologies.  So when Fox turned the Human Target into a TV show, the disguise element was scrapped, and Christopher Chance always looked like Mark Valley. Deadman's premise is even more dependent on taking over others' identities.  He doesn't even have an unmasked identity for inbetween scenes.  Unless and until a network is willing to have a show with a lead character who has to be played by a different actor in every episode, Deadman will never make it on the air.

•  You know what I love about Rob and this site in general?: The boundless optimism. Even though it's seriously unlikely, I would watch the hell out of a Deadman TV series
