Despite what the video says, the Heavy Hitters are clearly Infinite's Big Daddies -- powerful, memorable enemies that requite a shit-ton of ammo to beat. And that's fine with me. Getting to fight an evil robot George Washington sounds 100% awesome. What's even more exciting is that Ken Levine didn't say "Heavy Hitter," he said "Heavy Hitters" -- which means there should be more than one Founding Terminator to fight. Maybe John Adams? Lincoln? Ben Franklin on a flying kite that he shoots electricity from? A seductive robot Betsy Ross who throws flaming American flags at you? Oh, I can't wait for this game.
More links from around the web!
Why has no one mentioned that Lincoln wouldn't be in the game as he'd be a young teen in relation to the founding fathers?
Oh boy. I can see the political pundits all over this one. At least it won't be the usual talk of "murder simulators" and "seXboxes." You know video games have become accepted and are being taken seriously when they start talking about any political messages, real or implied, that they may have rather than just denouncing them as a moral panic. I'm also sure it was no accident that 2K decided to release this game on Oct. 16, so close to the election. I knew early on that this game had a few loaded political statements to make. What better way to emphasize that than to put it out 3 weeks before the election?
Also, and correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there also a Simpsons or Futurama episode that featured a robotic Geo. Washington going berserk?
Hurray, a game wherein I can tell George Washington, "I cannot tell a lie, YOU"RE DEAD!" And all without the idiocy of Assassin's Creed Dan-Brownian plot, which is a pretty big plus.
How many Bioshock games have there been? So far has it only been Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2?
And Bioshock 2 was done by a different company through a parent company which I dunno if even affiliated with Irrational. Not that it was really bad or anything, it just didn't trump the original. It was just more of it. Think of it as a bonus story more than a sequel and you'll be fine,
Whoa whoa whoa...does that thing have wooden teeth? Did I see that correctly? Because if so, that is ridiculously awesome.
Shit. I think I suddenly found a Bioshock cosplay I want to make more than a Big Daddy. Someday... someday...
I love how Andrew Jackson is a playable character in one of the Samurai Shodown games.
I read the title and was so disappointed that this was not about a Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter video game adaptation.
Does anyone else notice that the still pic before you hit play shows a giant Teddy Roosevelt robot?
You guys can do anything you want in the interviews......BUT DON'T BREAK THE FOURTH WALL!!
Really wished they released games like this on both the Vita and the PS3. I know the standard line is, "well, people don't Want to play the same game, they want something different". Except that's not true (for me) for franchise properties, And it's important that the games are released at the same time- so I can play things on the go as well as at home, and not a year or more later.
Am I really the only one that thinks like this? Things like Nintendo's Virtual Console, Sony's PSOne Compatibility (at least for PSP/PS3), and god damn OnLive suggest otherwise...right?
They are going to release this game on PS3, and on the same day as the PC and Xbox versions, so...what exactly are you complaining about?
That it's not going to be released on the Vita so I can play it on the go as well as at home. I thought it was pretty clear- but sorry if it wasn't!
A steampunk George Washington terminator that I can shoot at with a murder of crows from my hand while we battle on the edge of a flying city? Good lord, October 16th can't get here fast enough.
Eh. You've played one "steampunk George Washington terminator that I can shoot at with a murder of crows from my hand while we battle on the edge of a flying city" game, you've played them all. When will game developers make something original?
FUCK AND YES. It's about time somebody realized how terrifying things like Disneyland's robot Lincoln are.
This game just keeps on getting better and better. The attention to detail is astounding. Can't wait to get my hands on it in Oct!
jefferson - tries to enslave you
adams - shoots bottled beer at you
washington - uses truth as an evil weapon by constantly listing your shortcomings until you're a quivering fetal-positioned mess
lincoln - tries to emancipate you from your life
teddy roosvelt - the final boss, death is too afraid to kill him, kills you simply by stepping fully into frame, takes infinite ammo ... just get ready to die
his weakness is bathtubs; if you drop him into one he'll need the secret service bots to get him out of it.
he just makes you drop everything and move to oklahoma; also beats you with his cane and all attempts to fire at him fail; he can be defeated with paper money
Well, on the plus side, at least the William Henry Harrison-bot will be a cakewalk. Just wait 30 minutes or so & the douche rusts up & dies on his own.
Jefferson-tries to rape you after he enslaves you.
Also....I am now including all these "enemies" in my crack fic!
Sent the first chapter to Rob so now you guys just need to bug him to put it up on here.
