Okay, you got me -- Jon Bon Jovi did not write a rock anthem about cosplayers. At least, not intentionally. But someone set "It's My Life" to a extensive group of excellent cosplayers lipsynching it at the MCM Expo in London, and the results are strangely... impressive. I was actually kind of moved. Really! Now, whether that's because of Bon Jovi's incredible songwriting abilities, my bewilderment in writing about Bon Jovi and cosplay in the same article, or even my sudden, absolute crush on the girl in the Perona costume from One Piece is truly anybody's guess. Thanks to Nick for the tip.
More links from around the web!
I was at AyaCon last year and they screened the same type of video showcase at the opening ceremony, but set to Pink's "Raise Your Glass". Even more appropriate. Shame I can't find it online.
Scratch that, I did find it!https://www.youtube.com/watch?...
The Kaylee cosplayer hath captured my heart. <3
Between the song and how strange British women look when dressed up as creepy Japanese drawings, I'm unimpressed. Which is an awful shame, as I'm sure these ladies could be very striking and beautiful normally, but the costumes and earnest mouthing just ruin it for me.
This is the first time I can honestly say I enjoyed listening to Bon Jovi. And all thanks the the contents of the video.
Anyone who uses the word "awesome" about anything other than this today is misusing the word.
And this video just makes me want to get back into the cosplay scene more than ever... dammit..
The Where's Waldo / Wally bit was especially nice. That gave me a good laugh. Rag Doll was awesome to see as was the creepy Professor Pyg.
There is something about Shumacher era Riddler background dancing that makes me smile...
Wow.
I am impressed to the point of feeling that I no longer have a right to call myself a nerd or geek or whatever I am.
I guess I'll have to turn in my collectibles and start watching football now.
Watching it again. The people are so complete and beautiful in their geek happiness that it's making me depressed.
I really want to send the video to the Scanty and Kneesocks I met at MCM October, but I'm not 100% certain it's them and I don't want to be a total creeper. D:
On the plus side, they're really normal people and total sweeties. I wanted a photo but my friends wanted to get a move on and the ladies were eating their lunch, so I asked if they could 'sexy eat their lunch' and one of them held the other's coke while she took a hugely erotic sip, and the other ate a chip in the most unbelievably bosom-heaving way I've ever seen.
... I'm just going to take a cold, COLD shower right now before I do anything against the RUUUUUUURRRUUUUESS.
dont worry mate, i know both thoes cosplayer (the scanty and kneesocks from october) and both are over 18 :D
Now I'm suddenly planning a trip to the nearest convention.
cue the disappoint
The credits were the best part.I have no idea what "Random Chau" is or means but I'd have to agree with the assertion of that Assassin - don't feel the need to interject yourself into everything you come off as a dick.I should know.see I just did it again!
Yeah, it was some asshole chav ruining the scene. The whole video kinda had a nerd vs chav vibe.
and that I had to look up too and now I'll share - apparently "chav" is UK slang for someone wallowing in the shallows of "hip-hop" culture - which is a bit much to assume from just someone having an EVERYONE LOOK AT ME moment in the middle of other people trying to do something.
According to the Daily Mail, Chavs are wild packs of prepubescent children who roam the streets of the inner city, targeting pensioners and war heroes for knife crimes and getting each other pregnant. Your description is a bit more grandiose then they frankly deserve.
In real life, they can be a bit of a pain in the neck. They're not all bad, but you really wish someone would tell them to stop acting like it's 1993; the golden age of rap ended a really long time ago. And it's a bit pathetic to act all "gangsta" when you'll never get your hands on a real gun and the most alcoholic thing you've drunk is a pint of lemon shandy.
no. please god no. as a cosplayer i can tell you, you will be universally laughed at for cosplaying from sailer moon. sorry dude :D
did you just make an "accident"????
this is TR, that he/she is 18 is the least of your concerns!
If you are referring to an accident in my pants, than yes. I suppose that's true since Rob started doing Statutory Thursdays.
I want to set their costumes on fire and dance around the bonfire nekkid like a wild injun.
i can't see the video :(
i'll be disapoint if that foxy fox fur is not in the video! heh heh heh!
