A Ring vs. Grudge Movie Has Begun Shooting in Japan
In my high school, it was always a truism that girl on girl fights were meaner and more vicious than guy on guy – so I fully expect the upcoming Sadako vs. Kayako to leave Freddy vs. Jason in the dust. On the other hand, neither evil spirit relies on hand-to-hand abilities, so who knows where they’ll go once they realize they can’t use curses and death-stares on a foe who’s already dead and cursed.
It’s funny – I remember Takashi Shimizu at Comic-Con years ago talking about spin-off possibilities, and he thought Toshio (or as he put it, “Little White Boy”) would be the spin-off character to fight others. Somebody clearly realized that pissed-off moms are scarier than kids who meow.
Are you ready for a Grudge match…in this very Ring?
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Teaser Is a Genuine Tease
You know, technically, “J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World” is the amusement park section in Universal Studios. The Potter-verse isn’t called that anywhere else. But can you imagine in the age of texting, how hard it must be for Ms. Rowling to be taken seriously when she signs her name? Like, how would you read “We seriously need to pay our lead actor more, j.k.”
Anyway, kudos to this teaser for genuinely teasing, while giving out the main points we need to know, i.e. “Harry Potter stuff in New York, decades ago” and “That acclaimed actor you know from somewhere, being very English.” Plus a taste of the old John Williams theme. It’s less than any other of the recent tarilers we’ve seen this month have shown…yet in a way, that equates to more.
It also tells us the main character’s name is pronounced “skuh-MAN-der.” IMPORTANT!

Considering the long history of a noodle-armed Sonic, something may strike you as “off” about this poster. Look at those arms! What the actual fuck is going on here?
Of course, Twitter had to weigh in.

Some people made some recommendations for fixes:
Just do this, no one will complain, in fact everyone will like it, your design I’m sorry just doesn’t look very good or true to the character. pic.twitter.com/teHlqhXxP0

We’ll hold off judgement until the movie comes ou– Who am I kidding. LOOK AT IT! IMAGINE IT OUTSIDE OF SILHOUETTE. THERE’S NO WAY THIS WON’T BE NIGHTMARE FUEL!
Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Trailer Highlights Bebop and Rocksteady
Well, this is interesting.
I don’t know anyone who thought the movie turtles were true to source, but their versions of Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly) are a ninja cut above Rahzar and Tokka. And Laura Linney in a role as somebody serious? Are we actually looking at the Turtles as something worth dealing with decently?
Lord, I hope so. But you decide. “Out of the Shadows” is the sequel name, and it ain’t quite “skipping stones” – but it’ll do.
Today, Independence Day 2 Declares It’s “Definitely Bigger Than the Last One” in New Trailer
What’s more patriotic than Bill Pullman giving a righteous speech about declaring our Independence Day?
Bill Pullman literally turning into a doppelganger for Uncle Sam, THEN giving a righteous speech about declaring our Independence Day
Aside from that, all I’ll say is this sure does look Roland Emmerich-y.
