ADV Isn’t Quite Dead Yet

The rumors of ADV Films’ impending company death…well, they haven’t been greatly exaggerated. Funimation took over releasing virtually all of their titles which they didn’t lose outright, and the titles they lost include terrible live-action shit like Mutant X?seriously, if you can’t hold onto the Mutant X title, you’re company is in trouble.

But ADV is not dead yet! They just picked up a not-at-all crappy license for Princess Resurrection, which is basically about a princess who kills monsters, often with a chainsaw. There’s a cute vampire girl and a cute werewolf girl and several other cute monster girls, natch, but the princess is certainly the star. I read a bit of the manga from Del Rey, and it seemed fun, but this is exactly the type of awesome premise that anime shows can take and make boring by making the characters do nothing but stand around and flirt with each other. Now, I haven’t seen the anime, so I don’t know that that happens. Maybe it’s the coolest thing ever. But I don’t know that it doesn’t happen, either. All I know is there has to be some reason ADV managed to snag this anime instead of other companies, and it wasn’t because of their current company strength. (Via ANN)
