Heroes Isn’t Feeling So Super

Have you been enjoying the third season of Heroes? Have you stopped by Topless Robot‘s continuing live-blog, where we’ve laughed and learned from storylines like Parkman’s Magical Turtle Adventure, Mohinder’s one-man production of The Fly, and the Hideous Villains Who Are Actually Pitifully Lame Except for Robert Forster.

No? Well neither have we, and neither has NBC. That’s why the network has shitcanned co-executive producers Jesse Alexander and comics writer Jeph Loeb, who were running the show for creator Tim Kring….running it right into the fucking ground. Sez Variety:

“Heroes,” produced by Universal Media Studios, has struggled in the ratings its third season. It’s understood that Alexander and Loeb were let go because of Peacock execs’ frustration with the creative direction of the show. The show is also said to have been grappling with hefty budget overruns this season, that are going well beyond its already sizable $4 million per-seg pricetag.

This is good news (well, except for Alexander and Loeb), since Heroes has been terrible since the whimper that was the end of the first season, followed by the incredibly boring second season, and now the third season, where they appear to be making it up as its filmed. I’m assuming the new regime will take over for the second half of the season and its new storyline, when they’ll have a very low bar to hurdle?even the tiniest scrap of continuity would be an improvement.

Oh, and last but not least, there’s no Heroes tonight, and thus no TR live-blog. It’s a good thing, too, because my liver needed the break more than my brain did.
