Marvel Plans Thor Cartoon, No One Tell the Hulk

It was literally 10 days ago when Marvel announced that it was canceling the announced Hulk: Gamma Corps cartoon so the animators could focus on the upcoming Avengers ‘toon. It made sense?if Marvel had limited resources, much better to focus on the cartoon with most of Marvel’s heavy-hitters versus just one. But as it turns out, Marvel was just getting rid of the Hulk, and trying to let him down easy. From the Hollywood Reporter:

Marvel’s Thor is the latest hero from the comics and entertainment company to get the cartoon treatment. Marvel Animation is developing and self-producing a 26 half-hour episode series based on its long-running comic book, with the series targeted to launch in fall 2010, following Marvel’s live-action feature “Thor,” which bows in 2010.

The animated series will follow Thor, the Norse god of thunder, as he defends his mythical home of Asgard against fantastical villains, fiendish hordes, winged creatures and angry giants. The show will take place in various worlds — from mountainous landscapes to places of icy mists and fiery voids — and will include many of the comic’s supporting cast, including Balder the Brave, the Warriors Three and Thor’s evil adopted brother, Loki.

That’s cold, Marvel. You didn’t have the guts to break up with the Hulk to his face, possibly because he’d beat you to death, and then you go sneaking off behind his green back to make a Thor cartoon like no one would notice. For shame. For shame. (Via Newsarama)
