Hard Boiled Sequel Won’t Star Chow Yun-Fat or Be a Sequel

John Woo’s production partner Terrence Chang, quoted by Latino Review:
We are now developing a movie of STRANGLEHOLD, and just
signed the writers Fabrizio & Passmore. It will be a hardcore
action film set in both Hong Kong and Chicago. We will keep some of the
action set pieces of the game, but the story is different. It is a
total reinvention, with a much younger Tequila. In other words, it is
not a sequel to HARD-BOILED.
Well, fuck that. Basically, all they’re doing is calling a character in a now utterly unrelated-to-the-original film Tequila, in hopes of trading in on the original Hard Boiled. I got news for you, Chang — there’s only one Tequila, and he can only be played by Chow Yun-Fat. And no amount of horrible Dragonball movies will ever take that distinction away from him.
