Bono Turns the Lights Back On Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (or Something)

?So close! We were so close! Yes, the Spidey musical — recently rumored to have released its actors from their contracts and gone wildly over budget, as per director Julie Taymor’s standard operating procedure — is seemingly back on, thanks to… U2’s Bono. Sigh. From the NY Post:

No, the help — or, more accurately, the cash — is said to be coming by way of Bono, who, with The Edge, has written the score to “Spider-Man.”

Bono’s too smart to put his own money in the show, but word on the
street is that he’s tapped into his vast network of rich friends and
business associates to restart production.

Designers and some stagehands go back to work today.

Bono feeds half of Africa, so raising a few more million for “Spider-Man” shouldn’t be too difficult.

When Bono — who’s writing the damn musical, I might add — refuses to invest in it, what does that tell you? In summary: Bono is the worst friend ever. (Via Robot 6)
