?Marvel’s Kenneth Branagh-directed Thor movie is slowly coming together, and the newest piece of the Norse puzzle has been found — although I should say pieces. Marvel.com confirms that the Warriors Three have been hired, and they will consist of Stuart Townsend as Fandral the Dashing, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg the Valiant, and Tadanobu Asano as Hogun the Grim, seen above from left to right (pic ganked from Newsarama).
So this casting isn’t bad, although it is kind of weird. I loves me some Ray Stevenson thanks to Rome, but he recently played the Punisher in the so-bad-it’s-actually-good Punisher: War Zone. Weird that he’s taking another Marvel role, but hardly a major deal. It’s somewhat weirder that a Japanese man has been hired to play a Norse god, although I will say Asano was awesome in Mongul, so if he can speak without an accent, it might not be crazy distracting. Meanwhile, Stuart Townsend… he’s pretty, and in that sense is well suited for Fandral, but he can’t act for shit. So I don’t know. Honestly, I’m more concerned with Townsend than I am with Asano.
