Spike VGAs Trifecta: The Force Unleashed 2, Batman Arkham Asylum 2, Tron Evolution

Okay, I totally didn’t watch the VGAs like I said I would. sure, they have a lot of great video previews, but it’s not like they aren’t all on GameTrailers immediately afterwards. Here are three of the biggest; more to come later.

? Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

The platform gameplay of The Force Unleashed was almost inexcusably broken. I say “almost,” because the other half of the gameplay — using the Force, blowing aliens off cliffs, tossing Stormtroopers into space, electrocuting rancors, hurling lighsabers into people’s heads — was awesome. I’m guessing this takes place after you succeed Vader, but you still have the option of turning good or becoming extra evil, like in the first game. Also, props to Lucasarts for having the rancor tossed out of the gate — wasn’t expecting that. Just fix the platforming, okay?

? Batman: Arkham Asylum 2

Given that AA sold a jillion copies and was the best reviewed game of the year, a sequel was obviously coming. I was hoping they’d drop the Arkham Asylum tag and move the action to Gotham City. Looks like they did and they didn’t; the game is still AA, but it appears the inmates have taken over the whole damn city. I have absolutely zero problem with this.

? Tron: Evolution

Given my propensity to masturbate furiously anytime the something from the Tron sequel pops up, I was kind of disappointed by this preview. I’m glad there’ll be the frisbee tossing and bike riding and shopping those red things, but I expected all of that. This trailer didn’t have any of the surprises that the above trailers did. I mean, I still masturbated to it, but my heart wasn’t really in it.
