?We need to shoot more Japanese people into outer space. No, not for any nefarious reason; it’s because when Japanese people do escape Earth’s orbit, they’re 50% more likely to let their nerd flags fly. Case in point: Astronaut Soichi Noguchi (left), who spent last Thursday in the International Space Station dressed in the uniform of Susumu Kodai/Derek Wildstar from Space Battleship Yamato/Star Blazers. And that’s awesome. Furthermore, that same day, the space station crew was woken up to the theme song from Hayao Miyazaki’s classic animated film Laputa: Castle in the Sky.
