Assassin’s Creed 2.1: In Da ‘Hood

The Brotherhood, specifically. Ubisoft is making a new Assassin’s Creed game — tellingly not titled Assassin’s Creed 3, and apparently still set in Renaissance Italy (although it’s very tough to tell through these promo videos). The box art leaked, which says:

“Live and breathe as Ezio, now a legendary master assassin, in his
struggle against the Templar order. Lead your own brotherhood of
Assassins and strike at the heart of the enemy: Rome. And for the first
time, take part in an innovative multiplayer layer allowing you to
embody an assassin of your choosing and define their killing style.”

BOO. I like the idea of running an assassin’s guild and having other people to control — the above video showcases some of the new weapons players can use, and appears to let you play as (gasp!) a girl assassin — but I don’t know that Assassin’s Creed is really built for multiplayer. Actually, I’m pretty sure it’s not. It’s kind of hard to sneak up on someone when it’s a third-person adventure game. Oh well. Maybe there’s a decent single-player campaign, or maybe Ubisoft has something more up their sleeves. We’ll find out in fall when the game releases, I guess.
