Damn, That’s Good Yamato The Live-Action Yamato Movie Is Looking Good
I was way too young to ever watch Star Blazers (a.k.a. Space Battleship Yamato) on TV, but I’ve spent enough time in the anime fandom mines that I know how people of a certain age — in both America and Japan — treat the series with reverence. So I wonder what these people think of the trailer. Star Blazers wasn’t actually the most action packed of cartoons, but I can’t decide whether this trailer has too much action and not enough space opera/drama to satiate the fans, or if this is pretty much all the action in the film, and the other two hours will be Japanese people in silly haircuts have dramatic confrontations in spaceship hallways. Seems to me one of these groups is going to be disappointed, but we won’t know for sure until the film premieres in December. Still, at least for now it’s looking pretty darned good. (Via ToysREvil)
