Get Ready for Pop Sculpture

I’ve been a nerd a long, long time, and I’ve been a toy nerd for most of it. One thing that’s always bummed me out is that there’s never been a guide to getting into the toy industry. Oh, there’s plenty of books on how to draw comics, and several guides to programming videogames, but if you’re a toy nerd, there’s no clear path to joining the toy industry, or truly making your own toys and collectibles. That is, until now.

My good friend Zach Oat, former editor of ToyFare, and toy and statue sculptors Tim Bruckner and Ruben Procopio have written Pop Sculpture, a clear, comprehensive step-by-step guide to sculpting, painting, articulating and potentially professionally making toys and statues. It’s a book that’s long overdue, and it’s going to be a godsend for toy nerds. Now, the book isn’t out until next week; I’ll be posting an admittedly fawning, highly biased review when it is. But I wanted to show the above trailer and get the word out now, because this is an amazing book that fills a massive hole in nerdery. You can pre-order Pop Sculpture here.
