Is Smallville Actually Going to Be Awesome This Season?

There’s only been one episode of the tenth and final Smallville season, and I haven’t seen it. But the previews have been full of things everyone has wanted Smallville to have, including flying and the suit. But this… this announcement might just have made Smallville appointment TV for me. From IGN:

Slade Wilson will be introduced in the ninth episode of Smallville

destined to become Deathstroke, an incredibly skilled and dangerous mercenary…

Playing Slade will be Michael Hogan, the veteran actor best known for his work as Colonel Saul Tigh on Battlestar Galactica.

Holy. Fucking. Fuckmonkeys. That is such great casting that tears are welling in my eyes. Look at their pics side by side:

I honestly can’t think of anyone else better suited to the character, or anyone who knows his way around an eyepatch quite so well. Goddamn, Smallville. Well done. You’ve come a long way since Mr. Mxylptlk.
