Batman 3 Is Going to Have Catwoman In It and/or Another Unnecessary Love Interest

?Deadline says Chris Nolan is meeting with six actresses for two roles in The Dark Knight Rises. These include: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. There are only two possible options here: Catwoman, and yet another love interest.

The former is fine, and the latter annoys me to no end. Batman really, really doesn’t need a love interest. A romantic relationship is part of a normal life, and that’s something Batman gave up a long, long time ago. Almost any time you bring a romantic lead into the mix — other than Catwoman — it just lessens the Batman character. I say “almost,” because I think Mask of the Phantasm is the one and only Batman romance that ever needed to be told, because Batman acknowledged that he had to choose being Batman and love.

Anyways, I vote Hathway for Catwoman, personally. I don’t give a shit about the love interest. Hell, Nolan might as well cast Elle McPherson again and have her wander around the background of scenes with a confused expression on her face.
