Sherlock Holmes and Sickboy Are Starring in Frankenstein
/Film alerted me to the existence of a production of Frankenstein, the play. Now, before you dismiss this news out of hand, you need to be aware that:
? It’s directed by Danny Boyle, of Trainspotting and 127 Hours fame
? It stars Benedict Cumberbatch from the new/awesome Sherlock Holmes and Jonny Lee Miller from Trainspotting and Hackers and things
? Cumberbatch and Miller switch off playing the doctor and the monster every other night
How awesome is that? They play both roles! By the little teaser above, I think I’d prefer to see Cumberbatch as the doctor and Miller as the monster — I feel like Cumberbatch is the strongest actor, and the doctor is the more delicate role — but hell, I’d be happy to see either. The bad news is that the show is only running in London, but the good news is that two of the performances will be shown in various theaters across America in March. The list of theaters is here (it’s a very odd selection, in all honesty). If you end up going to the DC showing, you may see me there.
