That Robot With the Mustache from the Transformers 3 Teaser Revealed

The first Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon teaser trailer — you know, the one that was set on the moon in the ’60s — showed one robot, and because Michael Bay’s robot designs are fucking messes, no one could tell who it was supposed to be. But now the NY Toy Fair is going on and Hasbro is revealing some TF3 toys, so now we know who that robot is: Sentinel Prime.

?That’s his figure. Entertainment Weekly says:

That eerie, lifeless robot trapped in the wreckage of a gigantic alien
craft being explored by the Apollo astronauts? Yeah, that’s the guy.
He’s Optimus Prime’s predecessor, apparently lost in space for eons. He
actually crash-landed on the Earth’s moon and patiently waited for the
humanoid ants on the planet to develop some technology, fly up, and plug
him back in.

Between Jetfire powering down and hanging in the Air & Space Museum for a few decades and now Sentinel Prime, it seems like Transformers have the battery life of 1st generation Sony PSPs, but whatever. I’ve decided to save all my rancor for when I actually see the film (although I’m looking forward to learning why Sentinel Prime’s vehicle mode seems to be a fire truck humping a helicopter). Oh, apparently Hasbro’s also making an Ark playset — but of course it’s from the movie, not the cartoon.

?It’s Sentinel’s spaceship, as also seen in the trailer. The toy doesn’t look like it transforms to me — which I know it shouldn’t, but I’m still weirded out by the idea of Hasbro making Transformers toys that don’t transform, no matter the reason. I mean, why bother?
