Captain Power Will Power On Again Next Year
Remember Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future? The late-’80s TV mashup of Lazer Tag and The Terminator that served as an interactive companion to the Mattel toy line is planning a comeback through a collaboration between original creator Gary Goddard and Urban Archipelago Films. As of right now, other than this new website and a Facebook page claiming that the Captain will be returning in 2012 there’s not too much info to go by. (It’s also unclear at this point what role, if any, Babylon 5 mastermind and frequent Captain Power writer J. Michael Straczynski would have in the project — though the above video indicates he would happily be involved). Though it may have been goofy and cursed with a low budget, the original series was often extremely ambitious — even though it primarily existed as a marketing tool for toy weapons.
