?Producer Brian Grazer, who is working on the somewhat pared-down Dark Tower franchise with director Ron Howard, just told MTV that The Dark Tower is going to be an HBO TV series. And that he’s still planning on doing a movie.
Before we freak out, remember that this isn’t an official announcement; there’s no press release or anything. Maybe he’s just doing Hollywood-speak and hopes that it’ll be an HBO series, or even an HBO-type series. Maybe HBO and Grazer are just talking, and Grazer is optimistic they can work out a deal. Hell, even if Grazer and HBO are close to finishing negotiations, which means there’s still time to fall apart. On the other hand, Game of Thrones has done very well for HBO, and them looking for another fantasy series — especially on based on a very popular book series — seems incredibly plausible.
