?From the Lego Cuusoo blog:

Happy New Year! Since the Minecraft?
project reached 10,000 supporters on LEGO? CUUSOO, many of you have
been eagerly awaiting our update.  Until now, the project has been in
the LEGO Review–a stage before product development begins where a LEGO
Jury evaluates the idea’s feasibility as a product and makes a decision.

We’re
happy to announce that the Minecraft project on LEGO CUUSOO has passed
the LEGO review and we are now developing a concept that celebrates the
best aspects of building with the LEGO system and in Minecraft. We can’t
wait to show it to you–but it isn’t ready just yet. These things take
time, so we appreciate your patience. More details are to come.

Cuusoo is Lego’s official hardcore fansite, where people can upload their creations and vote for them to be made into real sets. I assume Lego wasn’t really looking for new licenses, but when you get 10,000 votes for a product in only a few days, I suppose that warrants a call.

Anyways, official Minecraft Legos (FYI, that’s just a a fan pic above, not the real thing — no pics have been revealed yet). In addition to official DC superhero Legos, Marvel superhero Legos, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Legos, classic monster legos, and the girl-friendly Lego Friends. Wow. That’s an almost disturbing amount of awesomeness to be releasing in one year, Lego. Now, if you can tell us the best way we can get our employers to make our paychecks out directly to you? Thanks to SlyDante for the tip. (Via Joystiq)
