World War Z Has Worse Problems Than Zombies

And that problem is that Paramount is apparently run by imbeciles. The World War Z movie wrapped principal photography quite some time ago, but Paramount has ordered not just seven weeks of reshoots — which is way beyond adding a few connecting scenes and more like redoing a significant portion of the movie — but they’ve also hired Damon Lindelof to rewrite the script.

Months after the movie finished shooting.
I don’t think you have to be a Hollywood insider to understand that the World War Z movie is deeply and truly fucked. There’s only so much Lindelof can do, seeing as most of the film is actually completed and all, although the reshoots apparently don’t start until this fall. Of course, it’s worth remembering that Paramount has turned the post-war, personal/historical documentary narrative of Max Brooks’ novel into a standard zombie flick where Brad Pitt travels the globe to find a cure for the zombie outbreak anyways, so I don’t know that any of us really needs to be upset.
So between World War Z and G.I. Joe: Resolution, that’s two major movies that were done that Paramount has chosen to redo after they were pretty much completed, one because the script sucked and one to post-convert in 3-D (and reportedly up the Tatum factor). Has no one told them they need to figure this kind of shit out before shooting? These are problems that should’ve been identified way, way earlier in the process. You know, Hollywood, if anyone wants to give me a seven figure salary and a mountain of cocaine, I’d be happy to lend my expertise. (Via Twitch)
