Doctor Who Trifecta: TV Movie, Docudrama, Nonsense (Updated)

? Finally some of the Beeb’s plans for Doctor Who‘s 50th anniversary next year have come to light. I imagine nothing will be more exciting for Who-ligans than the recent announcement of a TV movie titled An Adventure in Space and Time, which actually looks at the good Doctor’s origin. Hell, I’m interested if only to find out if they’re going to cast a young version of the First Doctor or what. (Via Cinema Blend)
UPDATE: So never mind, An Adventure in Time and Space and Mark Gatiss’ docudrama are the same thing; There’s no TV movie about the Doctor’s fictional origin; just the real-world one. Cinema Blend was confused, and I believed ’em. My bad.
? If that doesn’t float your boat — which, if you’re a Who fan, it almost certainly does — then you might be pleased to know that Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss is writing a docudrama about the real-life creation of the Doctor Who series, also for the anniversary. There are Doctor Who origins all over the place! (Via Nerd Bastards)
? Last and definitely least, here’s a clip of the upcoming special “The Science of Doctor Who,” which I find funny as Doctor Who is the least scientific science fiction around. I know Doctor Who is quite the hit in America, and I don’t begrudge the BBC trying to cash in on the show’s popularity by making a bunch of insane specials on the companions and whatever, but examining the “science” of Doctor Who is like examining the “planning” of Warner Bros.’ DC movie division. You’re examining something that doesn’t actually exist. (Via Blastr)
