The CW posted a brief interview with Katie Cassidy, who plays Black Canary surrogate Laurel Lance in the upcoming Arrow series. I point this out because other than a thirst for justice, she doesn’t appear to have much in common with the blonde banshee DC superheroine (yet). I don’t mind that in theory — certainly they’re playing a bit loose with Green Arrow in the show, too — but Laurel is a little too Single Female Lawyer for my tastes, at least in this clip. Her scenes with Oliver seem like they’ll be interesting, though. Although I still think Arrow might surprise us by being actually kind of good, I’d bet cash money that we’re all going to groan whenever there’s a scene at Laurel’s law firm without Oliver Queen in it.

Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others.
