Not a Prank? George Lucas’ Early Star Wars Draft to See Comic Form

The press release begins, “It’s no April Fools’ prank!” so I’m going to believe them…for now. The folks at Dark Horse, while researching in the Lucasfilm archives, have apparently gotten their hands on The Star Wars, that early draft featuring Annikin Starkiller and General Skywalker, along with alien Han Solo, who, I’m presuming, does not shoot himself first.
It’s planned as an eight-issue miniseries launching in September. George Lucas gave the okay after seeing proposed artwork like the above…or possibly just said, “Fuck it, this whole thing’s not my problem any more. Do what you like before Disney takes your license away and gives it back to Marvel.”
